As much as I love the new age big epics like Horizon and such, I really hope Astro Bot is going to remind people of what made Playstation into the giant it is. At times it feels like they are ignoring their history. But this game and stuff like bringing native versions of the Sly Cooper series to their modern consoles is a ray of hope to have some more joy and fun instead of gritty 200 million dollar movie experiences.

I completely agree! While big-budget epics like Horizon are impressive, games like Astro Bot remind us of the joy and creativity that built PlayStation's legacy. Bringing back classics like Sly Cooper can diversify PlayStation’s offerings, celebrating its history while still moving forward. Here's to hoping Sony continues to balance both, offering both grand epics and some nostalgic adventures!

They are afraid their fanbase will only accept ultra realistic and dramatic IPs. Which is dumb. But I think they will realize the business side of things favors this smaller type of titles. Just look at Nintendo dominating

I have no nostalgia for PlayStation, but even I can admit that this game is simply gorgeous! I love Astro and all the other little robots! They are all so adorable and charming! I love how they were able to make what could have been a simple demo a full platforming game with so many Easter eggs and collectables, making this a true love letter to all the PlayStation fans.

Couldn't agree more. And who knows, there has been talk of Astro Bot opening up to non-PlayStation IPs, so maybe this could become a celebration of games as a whole!

Great video astro built-in to every ps5 was a awesome idea after playroom i got an old psvr1 to play rescue mission vr worlds etc astro reminds me why I love games aside from mario oddessy its one of my fav 3d platformers of all time

I kind of saw sackboy as the mascot of ps3

Good point, completely slipped my mind. Sony really had their fair share of potential mascots but so far haven't been great at maintaining them it seems :)

@gmersdelight unfortunately with Spyro and Crash Sony dud try to buy the IP from Activision but they refused to sell them to Sony

If you haven’t played Astrobot in VR yet I highly recommend it

Thanks for the reccomendation! Haven't played PSVR in a long time but I'll definitely give it a try.

This kind of game is really what will get me back into buying a playstation. Every game outside of nintendo is too focused on making everything so realistic.

Astro Bot and Ratchet & Clank single-handedly saving the Playstation brand from fully morphing into generic third person AAA slop

@@gmersdelight The upcoming years of PlayStation look promising, with impressive action games such as Phantom Blade Zero and Lost Soul Aside coming out soon as well as the platformer genre slowly making its way back to life with Rift Apart and now Astro Bot and Infinite Nikki, I'm confident we will see way better games and way more diverse genre variety and that's great Enough of TLOU, Horizon and God of War, they're not the only PlayStation franchises, Sony is sitting on hundreds upon hundreds of amazing IPs and characters that date all the way back to the PSX yet they always obsess over the same three western IPs Let's just hope they've learned their lesson

I always find comments like this puzzling. Then I ask myself, is it simply ignorance or willfully ignorance or being uninformed. This gen, Sony has published Sackboy big adventure, Ratchet and clank, Returnal, Helldivers 2 for example. For your "generic AAA slop" Ragnarok, Spiderman 2, Miles and Forbidden west. So that's already demonstrably false already they stick to one thing. In the last 10 years, Dreams, Knack, Knack 2, Drive Club, Shadowfall, Shadow of the beat, the last guardian, Bloodborne,Dead nation, Alienation, Matterfall, Resogun, Helldivers, Gravity Rush, gravity rush 2, Ratchet and clank 2016, Astrobot Rescue MIssion. I can go on. There are factually more of these types of game than the 3rd person AAA slop". It just happens that those "slops" are the highest selling games they make and dominates the brands zeitgeist. The statement that they mostly release one type of game is demonstrably false.

Yes but: 1) find new platforming mechanics that are exclusive to him. Stop copying Mario. 2) give him his own world. Stop using it as a way to use Easter eggs of other more famous Sony characters. Swallow your pride Sony, allow yourself to have a family friendly mascot

1. Most platforming games are gonna have some similarities to Mario games. Mario is not the only game franchise out there that can do platforming and we're bound to get many different platformers that have many things in common with the gameplay mechanics of the Mario franchise. 2. Astro Bot is a fairly new franchise and this game is obviously meant to be a celebration of Sony's past consoles and history as well as being a demo of the new controller. Can't tell me that other game companies don't have a lot of pride when I see Mario slapped onto literally everything Nintendo related.
