Villa played much better here than in previous games but so they should. Best squad in the league by far and only getting stronger with the latest additions. What was apparent here is the impact good coaching has. For all Villa's hustle and bustle our goals came from individual moments of brilliance and mistakes. Brentford's came from systematic flowing teamwork. With a transfer budget that wouldn't even buy Ross McCormack, Dean Smith shows just how powerful the right coach can be.

Very astute comment. Dean Smith has done a brilliant job at Brentford with limited resources and they're a selling club, having to off load their best players each year to stay afloat. That he's also a Claret and Blue fan adds to the viability and attraction of him becoming a future Villa manager. UTV!

Ref stupid constant blowing off his whistle everytime we touched a Brentford player broke up our play and let them back into the game after 70th min but our 1st half performance was great

What let them back in the game was Bruce refusing to make proactive changes. McGinn and Whelan were clearly exhausted but he didn't make the change until they were already dominating midfield and had scored the goal.

4:12 and 4:38... Strong as an oxe-and he's not even built like one! Must be a nightmare to defend against. (Well, obviously, from that. 👏)

So happy to see Kodja scoring again, his first goal was incredible

I hope Maupays stamp on McGinn gets reviewed and he gets banned like if agree

It's brilliant that it's Maupay-their top scorer, bar none-of all players. (5 goals already.) He'll miss 3 games-that's going to hurt Brentford. 😈

Not too much. He's a solid scorer, but we're not missing other scorers like Watkins. The ban is more than fair, but it's not gonna hurt us a huge amount.

Maupay is a disgusting player! Really hope action is taken!

Best we’ve looked all season, and for quiet a long time tbh. Minus some defensive woes that need addressing we should have had al 3 points, they were under siege for a good hour of this game. We need to tighten defence and score these chances! Please play like this every game and we can’t grumble at the result. UTV.

absolutely. Steve bruce was a good defender so I cant understand why his teams consistently make ridiculous, even last season with Terry in the side. But we are playing good composed football.

Considering we were behind twice I'm happy with a point, but when in charge we need to stamp more authority on a match goals-wise. Instances like Maupay's challenge then him going on to score always seem to haunt us. Not helped by shocking ref. There were good moments to take from the match and our added resolve is great to see. Defensively though we need to tighten up and cut out the sloppy errors. Not helped playing guys out of natural positions in all honesty. Quite happy so far and reasons to be cheerful, but more cohesion in our overall play still to be improved upon. UTV

Why are they wearing the same kit? Seriously, those are too close. We might as well put West Ham on the pitch too and we'd be confused why there are so many players. Brentford's first goal was a shambles: Tuanzebe was doing his job, but the other defenders were giving B'rentfords striker all the room he wanted, no one was watching him-they can't make these kinds of basic mistakes. (I hope they got a bollocking after the game for it, take is a learning moment...) Speaking of defense, Kodjia is one strong sonofabitch to defend against, huh? 4:12 😂 Doesn't look like he would be, he's tall but he's not 6'5, nor built like an oxe (Lukaku). I guess he's just hella determined, stubborn! 👍 It gets him the goals, I love it.

Not fair to show it, and it isn’t really a “highlight.”

Bruce has been able to keep Jack, we have just loaned 2 good wingers with hopefully Abraham to follow and maybe a lb and cb if we could. if that happens Bruce has no excuses left as we will have all the tools to get us a top 2 finish. UTV!

Defence is shocking at times! But what do you expect. We got a youth loanee CB at RB, a midfielder at CB and a RB at LB! Bonkers!!!

I like Tuanzebe but his positional sense is terrible at times. If he had been where he should have, they wouldn't of scored either goal in my opinion. Mind you Hutton was also at fault too

Jedinak had a poor game. His distribution was woeful and he got caught out with his lack of pace which led to him being booked. Tuanzebe should be partnering Chester in the middle of defence.

Despite of Steve Bruce and Nyland we didn't miss the game. Chester, McGin, Grealish and Kodjia were fantastic. The other ones should not play in that positions, or simply don't play.

They touched them twice.

Referee was a show pony, missed all the key decision moments in the match and disrupted the game over nothingness so many times. Championship can be pathetic at times.
