Assos (Greek: Άσος) is a village on the west coast of the island of Kefalonia / Cephalonia, Greece. Assos was founded under Venetian rule and it served as the administrative capital of northern Kefalonia /Cephalonia from 1593 onwards. Assos lies around 36 km north of Argostoli, the capital city of Kefalonia. Assos is a must visit when you come on holiday to Kefalonia. Situated on a 50 metre wide isthmus, the beautiful architecture of the colourful pastel houses, and the crystal clear turquoise Ionian sea, make it a truly breathtaking place to visit. Another place not to be missed while on holiday in Kefalonia, is the beautiful village of Fiskardo, in the northernmost part of Kefalonia, half an hours drive from Assos.
