Assembling the Lakota | Marvel Studios' The Avengers
For the first time in years The Avengers have assembled for an incredible celebration rather than an interstellar confrontation. We give viewers an unforgettable glimpse into the reunion of the original Avengers cast as they team up once more for a noble cause: The Lakota Project. Earth's Mightiest Heroes join together to record and dub the original “The Avengers” in the native Lakota language, streaming now on Disney+, and we're along for the journey.
Mark Ruffalo and members of the initiative sit down with us to share the story of this amazing reunion and its very special cause. From the recording studio to the big screen, we explore this important cinematic milestone and celebrate the release that took over 15 months, 62 Lakota-Dakota language speakers, and the original Avengers team to come together and Assemble!

I remember hearing that Jeremy Renner signed onto this _while he was recovering from his accident_ and still did it, man's a legend for pulling through no matter what

Wow, they actually got the band back together for this? Phenomenal.
As a Native person myself I think this is AWESOME!!! I had no idea they got the band back together for this. Not many actors would do that, huge props and respect to them!
THATS AMAZING! good on marvel for doing that with the OG cast!!!
This is pretty touching, I remember that I did a thesis paper for my class about preserving lost and endangered languages in any way we can, glad this is one way of doing it.

I did a paper on Silver Surfer in college for a mythology class on how it relates to old mythology.
As a member of the Cree people up here in Canada... I am so in love with this!!! Thank you Marvel and thank you Avengers!!
This will be passed down through generations of Lakota people to enjoy with family and friends.

Ah the good old days
Woah this is really cool! The og Avengers coming back together to do this is awesome, i'm happy for the Lakota people. This is some real live hero stuff!
This is cool! I also really loved when they did Kahori's episode of 'What If?' in the Kanien'kéha language because I was learning about that in school at the time. I know just from the few people that I talked to, that a lot of people in that community appreciated it. I'm sure it's the same for the Lakota! I think we should be doing everything we can to help save these endangered languages and put them more in the spotlight so that new generations of kids in these communities can have cool stuff to watch in their own language.
This is tough 🔥🔥🔥 original voices is amazing
Love this 3000!! I was just watching the PBS series talking about Star Wars and other movies in Navajo.

My friends Richard & Ellyn Epcar were a part of the Star Wars Navajo dub project. Ellyn was the lead, and her husband supervised. It is so awesome to see projects like this happen
This is sick!! I can’t wait to rewatch the whole film and hear Lakota being spoken for the first time like this!! Love the intention and trust to make this work.
Oh, wow! The original six Avengers dubbed themselves? I would love to see this with other movies and languages, like Shang-Chi in Chinese.

The OG 6 only did the Avengers Assemble scene, but Ruffalo did the entire film as Banner.

@valeriek8537

@@WhiteRaven696 Yes, because the point of the project was to highlight the Lakota people and their incredible talent. Mark did do all of his lines as Banner but everyone else just dubbed the scene on the ground during the battle of NY. The Lakota voice cast is VERY talented though.

@@valeriek8537 That's understandable. For them not knowing the language and just doing it phonetically would probably take quite some time. I would assume listening to and repeating each line back several times. I think it's cool the Lakota people were able to do the dubbing in the first place, but to get the cast back to do any scene is just a bonus.
Man this brings back so much nostalgia
Wow. Great! That’s voice acting. So many times dubs are just reading lines and it sounds so fake. This had intensity and emotion.
Finally, Lakota speaking people will be able to watch and understand Avengers 12 years later.

Dang, they actually got the OG avengers to assemble again for this, and for a noble cause too. That's pretty awesome.
Storytelling comes from the heart. To share what we feel inside is a treasure. To go beyond, and see this happen. So good. So happy for everyone

This is soooo cool. the fact that the cast came back to record this is amazing.
A fantastic, positive story. Thank you Marvel Studios and the Avengers cast for returning to arguably one of the greatest films and giving life to the Lakota language through these characters again. Kudos to you all.
What a fantastic way to keep a culture alive.
Heroes on the screen and heroes off-screen! Excellent work and an excellent choice to spotlight!
Wild... that must've been a MASSIVE undertaking.
And RDJ is still being his cool self as usual ❤
This is seems like a challenging feat, but the cast was so up for it, I'm REALLY surprised and impressed by this!
Ruffalo, YOU ARE AWESOME!!! And all the cast who accept that, thank you! And thank you, Marvel!!! After "Eco" project, this is holesome!! Hugs from Brazil!

This is incredible! As a South Welsh person, I was always disappointed that nobody in my family spoke Welsh because it was heavily discouraged (it was even illegal to speak it in the courts and administration until 1960s/1970s). There was a thing called a ‘Welsh Not’ that children were punished and forced to wear if they were heard speaking Welsh in schools. In fact, a very similar thing happened to the Okinawan language, where children were forced to wear a ‘dialect board/card’ and punished. So to hear that the same, and even worse, happened to the Lakota language is heartbreaking. I’m so so so pleased to hear it is being spoken in communities still, and that the older generation are teaching it to the younger generations. When things like this happen, it is a fantastic way of introducing new people to languages, and to help it grow and strengthen. It is fantastic to hear that one of the original languages native and spoken in/to America, is being presented to a new generation ❤
Representation done right!!❤️💙
What a fantastic thing to do!!
Can I say, this is what the National Library is for. I don’t care if people forget The Avemgers. We can never forget the Lakota.
This is a beautiful idea. ❤
THANKS for this!!!!
THE OG 6 AVENGERS COMING BACK TO DO THIS! THIS IS AMAZING ❤
To watch a movie I know so well, yet hearing the true voice of the country the comics are from would be such an intriguing experience. The land speaks. Then to know that if we knew the language we would find ourselves in a deeper world.... Wow.
That is amazing! Awesome to see they all came back for it.
With the terrible history of America, I really appreciate this as a young FBA man. 🖖🏽😇💞
this is literally the coolest thing I have ever seen!
This is so cool beyond words ❤
I am a ceremony guy, and one of the most challenging things is learning the Lakota Language, which carries so much of the Lakota worldview and mindset. So this project just blows me away. So amazing, and such a respectful effort. I think is just awesome and I really want to see it!! Woplia tanka! Wasté yelo!
Ruffalo did the entire film as Banner the OG 6 only did the Avengers Assemble scene.
10 stars for the Avengers and the Marvel Studios for supporting this awesome project! Woohoo! So stoked to know this is happening and people care enough to give of themselves! 💖
This is so beautiful! It made me cry. It IS a beautiful language. Thank you all for doing this.

LEGENDS
I can't deal with dubbed or subtitled movies because it's way too distracting for me (a tad too much brain damage is limiting), but that isn't stopping me for fully appreciating the effort it took to dub an entire movie so that it can be enjoyed by others. That the whole cast reunited for this project is astounding given their schedules. I'm happy the Lakota people will be able to hear their language that just a few decades ago was denied to them. What a wonderful project.
love this!
Groovy i love the Avengers man

I never thought we'd see the Avengers reassemble.

Very wise not to release this yesterday. Props on the timing.

Now finance a series of movies that retells the history of the Lakota in their own language... that would be heaven.

Such a beautiful moment congratulations
I just found out about this dub and immediately went to go watch it. I'm as white as white gets and it was amazing to hear so much life and emotion in all the voice actors. I hope the other movies get the same treatment, I'll watch them all!!
