Stunning model Matt and the graphics really finish it off. Great tip with saving the control horn base covering. You made it 37 minutes in before you mentioned the size of your workshop….😂😂😂

I Sand the horn and glue them in with formula 560 aka Rc56 straight on the covering. Ive never had one fail. Water cleanups

That really interesting. I guess there is enough of the horn going into the control surface to still adhere. 👍🏽

@Matt Takhar RC trust me you will never go back to epoxy. Rc56 glues the covering wood and other surfaces great. It so less stressful for me anyway. I just find epoxy to be messy and overkill. I like how Rc56 doesn't dry rock hard either. It has a tiny bit of give

Can you explain the linkage hookup to the surface horns. They give you 2 washers nd a small conical piece and Im not sure the correct geometry to hook them up to the horns.. Thanks!

Hi, sure this is how i do it. I put the bolt through the first washer, then the small round piece, then horn, then washer and finally nut. Let me know if you want a photo. I could post it to one of my social pages for you

My goodness, I've turned into my old man. When I was a kid I really wanted some Coke pants. I thought they were so cool. My dad couldn't understand why I would want to spend my money to advertise a company's product. Now I feel the same way about the stickers. $79 and 3 1/2 hours to advertise for the company. I can see spending the money to advertise Matt Takhar RC, but not to advertise for Futaba or Extreme Flights etc. OMG I'm old now! Lol

Aesome Airframe and Build, Just a quick question, I have a Skywing NG and going electric, to power the RX and Servos seperatley, Do I Simply not plug the leads coming from the Spektrum Avian BEC into the rx?

  • @MattTakharRC

    @MattTakharRC

    Жыл бұрын

Hi. It really depends on the ESC. On some you need to remove RED wire from the throttle lead coming out of ESC to the rx, this will stop the ESC powering the RX. You don’t want that as you are installing separate pack(a) for the TX and servos. I think spectrum do a bi-pass module which mean should don’t need to pull the red wire. I have a castle ESC in my NG, I’ve not pulled any wires, I’m now thinking I need to double check it!

@MattTakharRC Perfecr thanks Matt, I have 3 leads coming out of the avian esc, 1 obviously throttle and the other 2 not sure, I would assume the other 2 are coming from the bec, so I would just remove the red wire from the throttle lead and plug all 3 leads in? Would you happen to know what that bypass module is called? Appreciate you getting back to me

  • @MattTakharRC

Do you know what the model number of your Avian is? You would typically remove the red from the throttle lead. I’m presuming the other leads are for telemetry and programming. If you give me the model number I can try to check it out

There is a good wire ping section in this manual. Page 4 onwards. It looks like you need a SMART ESC to get telemetry data. I’ve not read all of it as I’m currently out. www.horizonhobby.com/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-horizon-master/default/dwb627f043/Manuals/Avian-Manual-EN.pdf

@MattTakharRC yea I have the 100amp one, just seen the other 2 leads are coming from the dual BEC setup they have going, so as you say they are more telemetry etc, so I would just remove the red wire from the throttle and leave the other 2 unplugged from the rx, I'm a newbie to these electric setups lol, appreciate it Matt , my esc is the SPMXAE1100 100amp

Hi. I use 2 x 6s 6000mAh and get around 5.5 minutes of battery power. My timer stops when the throttle is down, so my flights are about 6.5 minutes ish. To be honest I was hoping for longer flights.

  • @MattTakharRC

Hi. On mine I could use slightly bigger arms to change the geometry slightly. The rod should be straight when the aileron is on full deflection/travel. I’ve not had an issues with the covering or canopy fit. Do you have issues on yours?

@@MattTakharRC I'm currently shopping for an airframe, looking at various makers of the NG. That looked a little tight but I agree with your comments, but shortest arms to get the right geometry in theory is best, in practice I'm sure it's all overkill.
