Assemble a Quartz Clock Movement, Dial, and Hands

This video will attempt to show how to assemble the bought pieces of a clock to the made pieces (that were also bought unless you're a thief or have generous friends). Do not be discouraged... you don't need a girlie face... on the clock dial... and lipstick during assembly is optional.

    This was so helpful! I bought a clock kit and thought that my minute hand hole was incorrectly cut as it was a rectangular shape. I am going to have a second go at it. Thanks so much and thanks for the laughs!

    HI and thanks for the interest Lori. Sorry for taking so long to reply, but, I've had a few mobility issues precluding me from loging onto my PC and formulating a meaningful reply. Depending on your specific kit, the hour hand usually has a split at the bottom... refer to this picture, u.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=XZbJ4nXZ8LDIWxWC6KJcbOHrGycEd42kNBgX where I have inserted a piece of paper to indicate where the split is on my hands. If the hand is too lose for you, gently (very gently) squeeze the hand with a pair of pliers after ensuring the split parts slip past each other... or gently (very gently) tap with a hammer. The hand should slip on snugly... does not need to be "white knuckle" tight... The minute hand should "key lock" over the stepped spindle mechanism. If there is no split, gently hammer should compress enough or use a good pair of tin snips to put in a split. Good luck and keep safe, Alex.

    Hi Alex - I know you posted this a while ago but still relevant. I would just like to say thanks as it has given me inspiration to try and replace a quartz mechanism on a clock that has sentimental value. Just need to work out which Keinzle movement will fit. 👍👍

  • @alexkara9696

    @alexkara9696

    2 жыл бұрын

    Depends on how strong your fingers are. You can make it finger tight which will hold, however, for security a small spanner (the right size) or a small shifter spanner should do... just don't go too tight. You can even use a pair of pliers, just be careful to not scratch the clock face.... That's why I recommend a spanner... they usually don't have sharp edges/corners.

    Phew that was 3 years ago... I can't see because of the cobvebs on the clock and there's even more on the video. The cap is only used if you don't want to see your life ticking away by the seconds. The minute hand (only) has the small cap, buuts as in all the $1 shops, the seconds are bald.

If you think your comment will make me (or people with my mindset) will change our minds you are wrong... It just makes us more negative reactive to your attitude. Your derision is demeaning to people that just want to live their lives... May I point out to you that there is a STOP button on your computer... use it as it seems you can't find that button on your mouth!
