本シリーズは大好きで長年プレイしていたし「宣教師に使役される黒人奴隷が実はアサシン教団の一員で、実績が残ってないのは裏の仕事をしていたから」というのはアリかもしれない。だが流石に領土も苗字も無い人物を侍にしてしまうのは説得力がない。時代考証も本シリーズを盛り上ている肝だと思っていたが、日本に限っていい加減な面が散見されるのは寂しすぎる。ネットを駆使すればいくらでも資料が出てくるこの21世紀でこのレベルなのはお粗末だ。その上言い訳が｢日本人には感情移入できない｣とは何事なのか。ならばそもそも日本を舞台にすべきではないし、日本人に感情移入できないユーザーが大半なのであれば日本文化にすら興味を持つはずがないので本作を手にしないだろう。商売人としての才覚も疑わしい。日本人が着物を着た外国人を見ても文化盗用などと訳のわからない事を言って怒らないのは、その人々が我が国の文化に敬意をもって楽しんでくれているからだ。ならば多少の粗など気にしないだろうが、ジョナサン氏の発言からはまるで敬意を感じない。個人的に主人公の人種がなんであろうとかまわないが、最低限の筋と敬意は通してください。

Respekt vor ihrer ruhe den Leuten gegenüber, die sich so respektlos der Japanischen Geschichte gegenüber verhalten. Ich habe mich unglaublich auf ein Spiel in Japan mit den Samurai gefreut, denn ich finde die Japanische Geschichte unglaublich interessant. Das ich mich nicht in die Japaner hineinversetzen können soll kann ich absolut nicht nachvollziehen, damit hatte ich keine Probleme bei Altair in Syrien, bei Ezio in Italien und auch nicht bei Bayek in Ägypten, wieso sollte ich sie jetzt bei einem Japaner in Japan plötzlich haben? Und wieso sollte es mir leichter fallen die Japaner zu verstehen, wenn ich es aus der Sicht eines Schwarzen erzählt bekomme? Ich habe AC immer dafür geliebt, wie sie das ganze Historisch aufgearbeitet haben und man sich in verschiedene Länder und Kulturen hineinversetzen konnte und gerade auf Japan habe ich mich unglaublich gefreut und dann soll ich das zum ersten mal mit einer realen Person Spielen, die aber kein Japaner ist, sondern schwarz und von Ubisoft mal eben zum Samurai befördert wird. Ich möchte bei einem AC in Africa ja auch keinen weißen Europäer spielen, weil das historisch absolut keinen Sinn macht und meiner Meinung nach absolut keinen Respekt dem Land, der Kultur und der Geschichte zeigt. Für mich wird das aus diesem Grund das erste Assassins Creed das ich mir nicht kaufen werde. Nachdem ich bisher Ghost of tsushima noch nicht gespielt habe, hoffe ich in diesem spiel noch etwas interessantes über die Japanische Geschichte zu erfahren und ein gutes Spiel zu bekommen.

But why do you believe that the main protagonist of the story will be Yasuke and not the Kunoichi who appears in the video?! The game tells the story of stealthy assassins, so Yasuke will be just a character who ACTUALLY belongs to the history of Japan, who will assist the story of the protagonist who will be the Kunoichi.

I'd like something newer than Assassin's Creed. In a parallel world where the Age of Discovery does not exist, I would like to play a game about a Japanese man who, while on a ship bound for Europe, sinks and washes ashore on the coast of the Gulf of Guinea in uncolonized Africa, where he is rescued by a local tribe who teach him their way of life, language and culture, and where he does something to return the favor. ...I was reminded of Farcry primal in the middle of writing this. This is a subtle idea.

If Yasuke was truly a samurai with a high status, there would be no way that Mitsuhide would forgive him when he captured him. He must have been decapitated just like that. If he were a samurai with a family name, if he was released, he would gather strength and hope to rebuild. It's not something a samurai would do if he just disappeared without even trying to avenge his master.

In a gane about the singoku period you should play as the normal Japanese samurai rather than the exception, and if you wanted to make a historical main charachter, you should choose someone remarkable for what they did rather than "the samurai was remarkable because he was black", it takes out of the immersion, and takes away immersion and makes it feel thier pushing a pollitical narrative

As a black brazilian guy, I feel terrible about this. The japanese culture is beautiful and help to build part of the brazilian culture. Ubisoft disrepect all that.

This is ridiculous. You can never expect a game to reflect real history. The Japanese are criticizing it for the sake of idleness. This is not racism. In my opinion, it is just an exaggeration of a character who is a slave. Since it is such a game, these are mentioned and in my opinion, it is very good. If they have established the story perfectly, it is very good in my opinion. I hope the game has a good release

UBIソフトが黒人のサムライを主人公にしたことについて声明を出していて要約すると「日本人主人公だと感情移入できないから外国人の目線が必要だった」と言っている。今までの作品ではそれぞれの国のルーツを持った主人公が登場していたはずなのになぜ日本だけ感情移入できないなんて理由で外国人に変えられてしまうのか本当に理解できない。 それに、黒人主人公の決定にポリコレが関わってると知って更に不快になった。「日本人は主人公が弥助になったことを喜ぶ。黒人がサムライの精神を持つことを嬉しがっている。」みたいなこと言っていて本当に不愉快な気持ちになった。 私は絶対にこの作品を買わない。

They are making up Japanese history by creating their own narrative on Yasuke when he wasn't even a Samurai in the first place smfh

Yasuke, a slave of Western missionaries, yasuke was perform tricks and make a spectacle of the city after he became a vassal of Nobunaga. It is on record that the Western missionaries said they could take money from the Japanese by making a black man into a freak show. His main jobs were baggage handlers and sideshows. If the Honnoji Incident had not happened, he might have achieved military success and could have had a family name. But the worst part is that over 400 years later, the same Westerners are selfishly trying to use Yasuke to make money. They have made no progress. Is it politically correct for westerners to talk about him as a brave cool samurai compared to his real image?

Rather than whether Yasuke was a samurai or not, it is more problematic to hear the baseless rumors that "Yasuke was mistaken for Daikokuten," "Yasuke beheaded Nobunaga," "Yasuke was respected by Mitsuhide," or even worse, (A proverb that does not exist in Japan,) “For a Samurai to be brave, he must have a bit of Black blood," “sakanoue no tamuramaro was black,” and so on. It is more problematic that there are false stories being spread without any evidence. It's not that Japan is hiding its history or anything, it's just speculation and fabrication without any evidence, and it's a complete false story that can't even be put on Wikipedia because there is no source.

Yasuke was a real black samurai in the 1500's and he stood roughly 188cm (6 foot 2) so they are historically accurate here
