«Aspirations» is an overture for Chinese orchestra with energetic rhythms and uplifting melodies, representing a youthful spirit and an optimistic embracement of the future. Originally commissioned by the Singapore Ministry of Education (2008), this third version (2013) has been extended to 4½ minutes. The new middle section features extensive counterpoint, a type of musical writing where different melodic lines are weaved together to form a harmonious whole, analogous to different people each playing a unique role to form a cohesive society.
序曲《展望》以动感的节奏和高昂的旋律，表现了青春的活力及对美好未来的憧憬。此曲 2008 年由新加坡教育部委约创作，2013 年完成第三版，延长至 4½ 分钟。新增添的中段以对位性写作法，将多个旋律线条融洽地编织在一起，犹如各独特的角色构成一个和谐的社会。
