Asphalt Milling

New project. Street in my city Aizpute 😃. On this street we need to dig rainwater drainage and restore the entire street surface. I haven't worked on a city street in a long time. But work close to home, it's very cool, 5 minutes and you're at work 👍 . It is very different to work in the city, everything is narrow, there are many wells and water valves on the road. And you have to be very careful.
Enjoy watching 🖐

you live in a beautiful place. nice to see part of Latvia that isn't forest or countryside. thanks.
Great video, very informative. In Portugal all newly laid roads are on average made up of 20% recycled asphalt. The recycled asphalt is transported usually from storage to an asphalt facility, crushed even smaller, mixed with sand, 8mm stone or even larger depending on the surface required. Then it’s all mixed together with the magic ingredient hot liquid asphalt. As a civil engineering student many years ago we visited an asphalt plant.

Well done, I love the close ups of the millings going into the dump truck.

Great video, and if I'm right the street name is Lažas iela? I always like to try to find where the work place is on Google Maps. I also found the pond from your last video series.😊 And nice town by the way, it looks very cosy. 👍👍👍

Thanks for showing the view into the heart of the beast. I always wondered what the actual milling part of these machines looked like. Love all your videos, MrAJ. Keep up the good work. One thing I noticed is that there are several of the yellow mini-vans in this video like the one I assume you drive. Are they company vehicles, or what?

Good afternoon MRAJ, I hope that you’re have a beautiful autumnal day where you are, thanks for your answer to my simple question, however I have another one for you. After the road has been planned and the chippings removed do they get recycled on another project somewhere, as I have heard that here in the U.K. they do get recycled on a farm track for example.
@MrAJWorks

Yes, we can also use it somewhere else, such as driveways for country farms and so on😉

That's some thick asphalt. What happens with the asphalt that was hauled off? Will it be added to the new when it goes down? I've seen it used as a base for new asphalt as well, where it was layed down and cold compacted, then the new was laid on top.
@hujaglobalenterprises2355

My guess is probably something like that what you just said. Asphalt is the most recycled material on the earth.
@edsalt5281

Nah in Europe we have thicker road bases than in the us, with tar and aggregate forming most of the road bed, the stripped asphalt is dumped somewhere and probably recycled for something else

Old asphalt can be used for city gravel roads that have not yet been paved. To avoid dust in the summer. It can also be used to build a temporary road at a site where trucks have to drive😉
