ASMR zero waste stinging nettles
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
When I was a kid my grandma used to make stinging nettles risotto or gnocchi but you can pick and use them for so many other things, at any time of the year. The seeds are known for the energetic properties and I can’t wait to pick some.
NETTLE LEAVES PESTO 🌱🫙
* One colander full of freshly picked nettles
* 1/2 x cup pine nuts
* 1 x cup of vegan hard cheese grated
* 2-3 x raw cloves of garlic
* 150 ml of olive oil
* 10 ml of lemon juice (optional just to keep the colour bright)
* 1/2 teaspoon of salt
* 1/2 teaspoon of pepper
🥣 PREPARATION
-blanch the nettle leaves for 2 minutes
-place in cold water with ice
-strain and press with your hands to remove as much water as possible
-combine all the ingredients and blend until smooth
-store in an airtight jar in the fridge
NETTLE ROOT TINCTURE🌿💧
* nettle roots
* 100 vodka
🥣 PREPARATION
-soak the roots in water depending on how much dirt they have and wash them properly with a small brush
-let dry for 3-4 hours on a towel or dehydrate with a dehydrator or sunlight
-chop in small pieces of 1cm each
-fill half of a jar with roots and the rest with vodka
-shake every day
-keep in a dark place
-will be ready in about a month
NETTLE STEM STRINGS🧵
-remove roots and leaves
-flat out the remaining stick
-open it in half and remove the woody part
-you’re left out with the fibres
-pull them apart usually they should be 4 but even if they are more or they get broken and are shorter that will work out anyway
-now you can twist all of them together and create a thicker string or leave them as is
-they are good to use fresh or you can hang them on a rail to let dry

Making string out stinging nettles reminds me of that story of the 6 swans. 6 brothers turned into swans by their step-mother and their sister has to keep silent and sew 6 shirts made of stinging nettles (other stories say star flowers) in order to break the spell.

But I did find somebody in the neighborhood who never touches his front yard. He said I could do anything I want there so I've taken over that space even though it's really late in the year I can still get some. Greens out of it. And if for some Horrible reason i'm still here next year the garden will be a good shape to start early. I have some of the best seeds that anybody could ever want. I can start them early if need be. Let's hope it's in my own place though. Again thank you for caring there is nobody left to do that around here.

Stinging nettle is an incredible plant, and I appreciate these videos that put it in a positive light ❤️ although I understand the concerns surrounding it, because it can definitely cause some damage if you don't know what you're doing
We use it in balkan pastry called Zeljanica. We use it instead of spinach and tastes amazing.
I've used the top two leaves off of stinging nettles in my slag bowl & chilli con carne for years as the nutrition of nettles is so high & they're delicious 🥰 Thank you for the new ideas to use these wonderful plants in.
We use dried nettle for tea and nettle soup here in Norway. Super nice and heatlhy.

You can use the tincture diluted in water as it helps for many things. It could potentially improve hair regrowth, anti inflammatory, improve your vascular system and much more. However, like many other things which are not owned and commercialised by big pharmas, there are not enough studies to prove this claims.

@@SpicyMoustache look into finding translated text from China and India. They have more recent studies on the positive effects of natural medicine. Also just to note Big pharma was built upon scientists finding the chemicals in plants that are responsible for healing and then they take that information and find a way to do it in a lab so they can patent it. Also i love your channel I dint remember how i found it but i love it.
Theres a town in Croatia named after this plant (Kopriva in Croatian). Its called Koprivnica, we bake and make all kinds of food from this plant, its amazing. From tea, soup to even beer. Also you can use it to spray other plants against bugs by leaving it in water for a few days, but it stinks a lot. When I was little my dad used to say if i get stinged by kopriva and it hurts it means you are very healthy and will stay that way. The plant is really useful and amazing!
Stinging nettles are also a host species for insects, including several species of butterflies 🦋. A nice plant to keep in the garden
Here in Michigan and other parts of the usa we have stinging nettles that are a different species called slender stinging nettle (Urtica gracilis) instead of what people used to think they were, which is common stinging nettle (Urtica dioica) and they are an important native perennial here so not all stinging nettles are invasive depending on the species and location.
You have given me a whole new perspective on life and foods...thank you very much sir!! ❤💯

Today, many people use it to treat urinary problems during the early stages of an enlarged prostate (called benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH).

Stinging nettle is native to europe
I have walked through these so many times that they are just a fun little suprise now.
As a east european child, I can remember two things about nettle: 1 is nettle borscht (traditional slavic beetroot soup, but with nettle greens - so delicious!), and secondly - hitting nettle bushes with a huge stick as a form of countryside entertainment for kids 😂

I would be more impressed if I saw him actually use the strings. In the Netherlands we make stinging nettle soup traditionally, its quite good.
