The mix doesn't matter at all, it's the tapping with the wand. The wand has a sensor and one you tap the cauldron the last time, it releases smoke so you cant see what happens. The bottom then flips over, putting the liquid underneath and the stuffed thing is revealed

After the potion sequence thing, it triggers a mechanism that quickly flips the bowl and reveals the creature :DD The potion is transferred to the bottom of the cauldron which you can open to dispose
