UTC is established by whatever time it is at the Greenwich Observatory, which is in Great Britain, --a country that does not observe Daylight Savings Time. So in Canada and most of the United States (except that pesky Arizona) the clocks are moved forward one hour from March to November. And the Newfoundland Time Zone (St. John's on the map) subtracts only 3.5 hrs from UTC during Standard Time and 2.5 hrs during Daylight Time, since it is so far east.

Okay, I know this video is kinda old already but I haven’t seen anyone explaining this, so I will By the UTC Brazil would have 5 (if I’m not mistaken) time zones, but our government (because of the management, especially in election days (since our election results are given on the same day that we vote)) decided that we would get only 3. That’s why Rio was earlier than St, Johns, even if it’s to the east. And the Summer Time only went till February (and is not going on anymore), so this wasn’t interfering with the time

The J in "janeiro" is actually pronounced almost like Kj in Kjellberg.(tried my best to replicate, but it is hard to exemplify in English/Swedish a sound like J in portuguese) Remember Portuguese =/= Spanish . I guess it can be easily approximated by just using sh. And in Portuguese "nh" works like ñ in Spanish. Edit: I am a native portuguese speaker, so don't try to teach me my own language, comment section xD Edit2: Oml, he hearted the comment... I got so distracted with the J thing (even tho it wasn't a big deal at all), that I did not talk about the fact that your videos are what makes me sleep, I love roleplays and all, but they fail to actually make me sleepy, but your videos are super informative and really make me sleep. Tack så mycket för att du hjälper mig somna! (my Swedish might be bad, I'm just starting to learn, förlåt)

Nice! It is too hard to figure out complex time zones, daylight saving time... I always need to plus 11 or 12 hours to calculate the local time of my hometown when chatting with my parents
