This is Debbie, Shawn's wife, commenting under his name. I knew about ASMR before it was even a thing. I'm 62 yrs old and was raised in an abusive home, plus being bullied at school. My only refuge at that time was the library; I felt safe there. I spent hours just listening to pages turning, librarians putting away books on the shelf. It calmed me down and helped me cope with all the stress. In 2011, I was diagnosed with Asperger's, plus I am bipolar since the age of 14. Answered so many questions for me. Helped me understand why I am the way I am. I have tried other channels on KZread, but always come back to yours. Thank you.

I have Asperger’s as well. “The world is just gonna have to deal with it.” is what I say to myself almost everyday😂.

My grandpa read the paper every sunday. This reminds me of those sounds & is probably why i love them so much.

Those newspapers are in a great condition for their age 😄... The old newspapers used to be so big .. We had one called The Age that a lot of people read in the train in the 80s. There were always fun times with the page turning, trying to avoid the people next to you 😂 Nostalgia and ASMR sure do have a lovely connection ✨ Newspapers are always great ASMR triggers and old ones even more so 🥰 Thank you so much for another super effective calming & soothing video - you're an amazing artist! ❤️🎀❤️🎀❤️🎀

I'd always be happy to be sitting across from someone reading the paper just to sneak a peak and see the eye-rolling of people next to the newspaper reader. I had a lovely day in the city with an old school friend .. a beautiful afternoon tea at a very classy vintage hotel. The food was served on tiered trays with many delectable treats 🥰... I travelled by train there and lo and behold a man boarded the train, sat opposite me and started reading - a newspaper! 😂. I haven't seen anyone read a paper on the train for many years, and he did look somewhat out of place reading a paper amongst everyone glued to their phones. I felt like I somehow manifested his appearance by watching all these videos 😂🤣.. It's such a rare thing to see now, and it was nice to hear those crinkly pages. Obviously coincidence but it felt like a serendipitous moment lol💫✨ 📰

That would be cool to actually read one of those papers. That's how I used to get a job , so much easier than the Internet bs. I could just mail or hand them my resume instead of all this downloading stuff.

That's sweet of Ms. Chris to send you these. These are in really good conditions as well, i hope you enjoyed them Kat. As for the sounds, i like how the newspapers sounded the same yet has this slight difference to it, a bit more gentle. And i like the outfit Kat, not sure why but it looks good surrounded by those newspapers.

Thank you for your question, Wendy. ASMR is a tingling sensation beginning in the scalp and travelling down the back of the neck and spine. It stands for Autonomic Sensory Meridian Response. It's a mouthful. 🙂 Around 20% of the population have such a response to some type of ASMR trigger. ASMR is also associated with a deep sense of relaxation. It is most commonly triggered by auditory or visual stimuli, often by exposure to specific audio and/or video Stimuli that can trigger ASMR include: - Listening to a someone whisper or speak softly - Listening to "crinkly" sounds such as plastic crinkles, paper crinkles, etc - Listening to buttons being pressed - Listening to repetitive sounds produced by someone engaging in a everyday task, such as writing or page turning - Listening to the sound of rain I hope that helps.
