Sooo here's the deal. Auntie is actually our mother. She got into bad trouble with the law and we were taken away from her. Dianne adopted us without telling her sister (auntie). Dianne pretended like she got pregnant and had us while auntie was in jail, ergo why auntie is always confused about our age. Dianne sends us to see auntie and invites her to thanksgiving so we have *some* relationship with our biological mother while we believe she is our aunt.

I just think as an ex-addict herself, Karuna has enough hindsight on the situation to be able to take it lightly and joke about it. She's not trying to shade drug addicts, if anything, she's just trying to put up positive content and de-dramatize it a bit. Of course, it goes without saying that if you know or have a recovering addict in your family you have to treat them properly, but that wasn't the point of the video

I’ve seen both sides. Sometimes recovering addicts are supported and up-held by their family and other times they’re put down and talked about. Not wanted at family functions.
