Unpopular opinion, I think Colleen Hoover is a terrible writer. I tried to read several of her books, but it was so badly written I just couldnt do it. I don't understand what the hype is about. On another note, love your videos Leah 😊

King, before he became famous, was an English teacher himself and worked in a laundry at night to supplement income for his family. He wrote at the laundry. He and his wife were really really struggling financially. Things changed when Carrie was published in paperback. He himself had a problem with alcohol. The Shining is also my fav King book. He wasn’t a fan of the film adaptation. On first seeing the film when it came out, I was disappointed because it seemed Jack turned so quick but that hotel seemed just like the book and I’ve come to appreciate the film as its own thing. Great video, Leah! PS -I think you’d love his Firestarter too.

King's ability to write from inside a characters head is what makes his stories so great for me, they feel very real.

I'm glad to hear how much you appreciated "The Shining." I've always felt it's one of the best books, not just horror books, but best books period. It deals with so many real life family issues, of course intertwined with indescribable yet slowly growing real horror. I read it long ago and it's definitely one that deserves another read 💜

Ooo Leah, I LOVE this video. Books and Leah, perfect! I've read all The Witcher books and loved them as well. Haven't read The Shining but it's on my TBR. My Name is Memory sounds good, so I'll be adding that to my list as well. You should do these more often!

Boonsboro is about 30 miles from me. I've known Nora Roberts lived there, but I didn't know she had a trilogy based there. In general, I'm very inspired to read more after relaxing time spent with Leah.

The institute is one book I wish I could read for the first time again. Such a good book. One of the only books that have made me cry

I feel like you made this video for me. 😭 I missed the book videos so much! I LOVE The Shining! King didn’t like the movie version but I liked the change of Jack being a reincarnation of an old caretaker. The book terrified me though when I first read it at 12. Somehow it’s scarier than the movie! Being on maternity leave I have so much reading time and you’ve given me more to read! Thank you!

I agree! I think the book was much scarier. I haven't seen the movie in maybe...20 years...so I definitely can't remember it in detail, but I remember the major moments that were drastically changed from the book. I need to watch it again! So happy you have some more reading ideas, and a huge congratulations!💛😊
