I loved the perspective from the older New Yorkers, especially hearing about making a friend at 80 years old. It's comforting that there's really no point where you're just "set" with your group of friends and that's all you'll ever have (Also the girl who said she's inside 25/8 was so real for that 💀)

I really enjoyed this!! Come to Toronto! Questions to ask "What are frienship dealbreakers? When is it time to walk away from a frienship? Has your frienship style changed as you aged? - for eg. large friendship group with people you are not really close to in your twenties and a handful of ride or die friends in your 40s, 50s etc. Should you tolerate disrespectful behaviour just because you have been best friends with someone your whole life?"

The serendipity of this video!! I went to New York for the first time in October - I had such a great time, I’ve been contemplating it being my next move in the next couple years or so. I went to a party last night where I was talking about NYC with a friend, only to then be coincidentally handed a NYC-themed glass of eggnog, and then fell upon this video this morn also having no idea you filmed in the city :’) loved every second of this vid! Feelin like the universe is giving me signs and this was one of em, thanks Kath for continuing to create🫶

I live in rural MN and just had multple friend breakups happen to me. The first two happened when i asked for my two roommates to pay their part of the utilities. They just moved. I was friends with them for 7 years and finally realized through therapy that one of them is a maniuplator and had been emotionally abusing me for years. Another is friends with those friends and is picking their side. We havent talked about it much so he is getting all his info from them. It physically hurts me and i have been depressed about it for months but thankfully therapy is helping me cope with it. This video is very pertinent to my life right now. Thanks for making it. Keep up the good work.

I found very interesting the questions about friend breakups and group chats. I'm in various big group chats. One of them is of people from several nearby neighborhoods. I'm not certain if I have true friends in that chat. However it helps to create a form of community, by sharing information, invitations to meetings, parties and collective projects. All those are good places to start a friendship.

i live in nyc and the way i've made most of my friends by talking to strangers. if i go to a concert alone, i make a point to talk to someone standing near me. i'll talk to strangers in line for the bathroom at the bar or while waiting for drinks. one of my fave connections was made because i had to give a tour to a girl who was looking at the apartment i was moving out of; we've been friends for a few months now. it's a lot of putting yourself out there which is scary, but i haven't had a bad experience doing that yet.

Reporting from the Bay Area! I would love you to ask people how they feel about their friends' friendships. E.g., do they feel left out when their friends have other friends or hang out with people you both know without you? Also - Do people try to be intentional about inclusion or how do they decide who they will reach out to/invite to events? Also more questions around if people consider their partner(s) their best friend(s) or if they hold that title for someone else in their life! Thanks Kath!

I can't remember the q's from last time, but I appreciate your focus on reciprocity and frequency! Things I stew on often! Other topics: - Mixing friend groups/ - Different types of friends, different parts of self around different friends - Need for depth and vulnerability in all friendships? Do some remain surface-level or fun only (d/t individual limitations)? - Feeling closer to someone than they feel to you, vice versa - Navigating conflict in friendships, frequency of conflict - Remaining friends even if interests and values diverge over time/ - Importance of diversity of friends and dissimilarity from some friends - Becoming friends with friends' partners/ - How friendships evolve when one friend starts to date
