No, it isn't. This is a myth, that it's more hygienic. In fact the opposite. You are likely to catch more diseases/STDs down there as well as crabs or vaginal lice with hair. Hair holds on to dirt as well as bacteria. Diseases were prevalent back in the 1900s because of the commonality of women who grew "bushes" or never shaved etc. Shaving is so common now because it is more hygienic and doctors/gynos will recommend shaving or waxing for those reasons. Learn how to do it or you will get ingrown hairs/razor burn, but shaving does not make it less hygienic because it can't "catch" bacteria.
