One of the finest works by Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan ... technical and artistic finesse at its peak 💙

This is the greatest film ever made and defeating this feat is next to impossible. boy o boy , literally i have lost count of the number of times, i watched this masterpiece.

Thalapathi is Original as it gets and it is plot is derived from vedic literature not Hollywood rip off! Don't compare Thalapathi☀️ with nayagan which is mere copy rather than inspiration.

I saw this move recently it really showed me why kamal Hassan is a true talent. especially for this film it’s not only a gangster film. but it’s about a man who goes by living with a certain code of morality and ethics. and how he punish the people who abuse the poor and is seen as a form of law and Justice it’s such a great film.

Hastily done episode. BR you are such a wonderful reviewer and such a big fan of Kamal and ilayaraja , should have taken ur own sweet time to peel the different known and unknown layers in this cult movie. BTW, 14 mins for Sarkar and just 11 mins for Nayagan is unpardonable.

Although I have seen both Tamil and hindi dubbed of Nayakan and loved it...Would have appreciated english subtitles for Nayakan scenes being discussed. Some very interesting analogy you have done.

Character themes were done by RD BURMAN in films like aradhana and sholay before ilaiyaraaja. Ilaiyaraaja introduced it to tamil films maybe though. That being said, nayakan has some of the best music ever produced

BR - great analysis as usual. Though I love each and every performance of Kamal, but I think the way he expresses anger with his daughter is one of his best. What do you think? I think every department of the film came together like in all great movies. Again he did this when he was 34 or 35. Unbelievable.

#AskBR 7G Rainbow Colony - 7G and Pudhupettai are the 2 of my favorite Selvaraghavan movie and I feel only in these two movies the director was able completely execute his vision on screen. While even 7G was about a hero stalking a girl, why was this still enjoyable versus similar movies now are detested pr condemned (rightly so). Was it because the hero gets reformed and responsible in the end? How does a movie tread this thin line between stalking and love and succeed?

:) :) Ha ha ha Thanks for your sweet reply. When are you doing "Mouna Ragam". I watched it today for the nth time and was so impressed from the get go.. When Mani sir has Revathy's childhood pics arranged on a mat as her room decor to Ilayaraja sir s haunting background score which drags me down the nostalgia lane to my school days... and Karthik who I was impressed only in this movie never before and never after and then Mohan, whom I couldn't fathom why he soooo famous (bad grammar) but I still loved him in every movie of his and then there is Revathy who spells fun, madness, free spiritedness and more. She gave many a girl an identity to grow up as a self-respecting woman very much capable of thinking for herself yet being so traditional... A 43YO from Austin, TX :)

Kamal Haasan might be the greatest actor in Indian cinema but there are many actors in the world. Daniel Day Lewis Al Pacino Marlon Brando are the best method actors of all time. They just do limited films but Pacino in 70's and 90's he's the greatest Brando in 50's and 60's. Day Lewis is a greatest method actor ever lived

I'm a 2k kid. I saw this film. I don't why people celebrate this? Hey ram was a cult, this movie is not that great. Lots of logic mistakes, useless songs, no depth in story. It should have been taken in 2 parts.
