also for anyone reading through the comments,, I own a hard keep tb and along with hay and complete pellets, she gets milled soy with her special (high natural fat) supplement feed, it's worked great for me(:

Toni Sturgeon Most likely, you might have not found the right feed, or you aren’t getting quality hay. It really could be anything, but this is just a suggestion😘.

I think oil helps? I may be wrong but if I remember correctly oil helps them gain weight and get a shiny coat

We can’t really help if you don’t give us any information. I know this comment is two years old, but it still applies.

#AskTheVet I own a 25 year old arabian gelding. when he walks, his back legs hit his front legs and it leaves a nasty mark. Although it used to bleed, it does not anymore. i think he is still in pain when he walks though. would bell-boots help? if so, what bellboot would you recommend from SmartPak? -Thank you so much!!!!!!!!

I know you were asking SmartPak, but I have a similar situation. My horse does this all the time. I use bell boots every time I ride or lunge him and it has helped so much! But recently I would see he had cut himself when I would take him in from the pasture, so now I keep his bell boots on during turnout as well (which many people do). Now he never gets cuts and I'm a lot happier :). I recommend Professionals Choice no turn bell boots, they have held up extremely well.

I would recommend if your horse is really bad leave them on almost all of the time but always checking them regularly (daily) and make sure they fit correctly, I use the rubber ones and they work good too,

My horse doesn't eat his hay much because he's alone. So far after trying many things I haven't been able to get weight on him because of this.

Beet pulp provides lots of fibre and no it is not fatal to not soak beetpulp, it cannot expand too much in the stomach as the digestive enzymes break it down quick enough but soak8ng is recommended to increase water intake
