You said your easy keeper is on the balancer. What is meant by that? Do you still have them on pasture or hay?

they are given the balancer to balance the nutrients that is in the hay! so yes, they are given hay but hay may lack certain nutrients so they are fed a balancer to account for what the hay is missing
