As a RN I really enjoy what this man has to say . Obviously he lives by his word as well. Looks to be in great shape which seems a rarity these days for people who seem to have so much to say but look like they barely workout. Great info . Thankyou

Metformin has changed my life for the better. Got me from being a Type 2 Diabetic to now my A1C and daily glucose levels are of a non diabetic. Yes, I do workout 6x a week, which consists of 75 minutes of lifting and then 40 minutes of cardio. Yes, my diet is clean and dialed in. Yes, I don't drink pop, and I do stay away from high fructose corn syrup products, etc.. but apart from bringing my glucose down I was able to break a weight plateau which had me at 224 pounds for two years and then after just a few months on Metformin, I'm at 200 and still dropping 3 to 5 pounds a week!

I think the metformin might be affecting hormones but maybe he is suffering from that acidosis issue, which is basically poisoning (can’t remember what the poison reaction that is known to result from metformin is called exactly) but I heard taking b1(thiamine) counteracts that reaction ... considering hairloss can stem from poisoning, like chemo... this could be occurring... he needs to figure out a way to keep his a1c under six without this stuff ... too bad he’s having problems with metformin, I don’t think it’s worth it for this guy, but that’s a tough situation to be in having to deal with diabetes at such a young age ... hope he gets it worked out

So metformin dramatically reduces testosterone which in turn would crush estradiol and that’s extremely hair protective but those studies with with men diagnosed T2 diabetes, metformin also seems to have some antagonism and play with the thyroid slightly lowering TSH levels but those studies where done with people with under active thyroid before… stuff to think about and get checked.

I am getting here on late. The Question for Metformin didn't include the fact does it slow down IGF-1? The guy was worrying about his hair. His primary doc should put him on basal insulin. The issue is a lot of doctors don't understand the benefits. He is young in mid thirties. Interesting case! Do an episode on Metformin and IGF-1?

You have properly nothing to lose. You will look more ripped when loosing abit and concerning gaining muscles on Metformin. I hear different things. I also just go it. I am instructor. It might shut down some hormones tiny. You will get more energy from metformin and reduce alzheimers and such. You will lose abit and train better. Also look into Canderine. Its good for loosing fat and getting energy. Over 30 BMI is high if you are not muscular already. I got 31or some. But I am pretty big. 230 pounds. But I would be ripped if loosing 20 pounds. Like old days. One thing is BMI another thing is how you look or feel. More important.

For dysfunctional liver it takes time to recover. I had hepatitis long ago and as I worked with toxic substances professionally my liver is very sensitive to any toxins even vapors in air. However, I did not have any problems to get into carnivore diet, moved then to Ketogenic and now back to carnivore. Metformin has a side effect to make me dizzy at mornings if I am on OMAD. As I changed from OMAD to TMAD with protein at breakfast, it is better for now. You may first change to carnivore diet and then try slowly to increase Metformin intake from 0.25 to 1.0 g a day.

My 4-month trial of Metformin (1.5g) proved me right: For all the wonderful health and ligevity-enhancing benefits, I' experienced a 36% drop in total testosterone since starting which I knew about and several studies have shown.. I was already low normal (high 400s) which was not optimal, now am at 318 which is basically hypogonadal. Have been contemplating TRT for years but was concerned mainly over issues with moderate hypertension, and past blood clots. This seems like it will push me over the edge to have embark on TRT.

Hair loss is related to secretion of Cortisol, the stress hormone. And secretion of Cortisol starts as reaction of your body to low level of glucose in blood. As Cortisol commands to liver to produce glucose. Meanwhile Metformin blocks it. So, unless you are on Keto-diet or better on Carnivore diet, you will get all the side effects of the Metformin. Change your diet to comply with requrevents to decelerate aging and lose weight. How is it possible that this physician does not understand so simple things? It is really gross. This is why for last 15 years I never visit any physician and stay healthy instead. Cheers.

@Lactose Tolerant Sure, you may get Metformin but it works only together with any no carbohydrates diets like ketogenic or better carnivore one. Otherwise, Metformin taken with sugars and carbohydrats may create serious problems in digestion. Like bloating, diarrea, etc. Just avoid any processed food, vegetable oils (fruit oils like coconut, avocado, olive are OK), any plant products. Stay on meat, eggs, fish. Plus Metformin. Please, mind that Metformin at morning can make you dizzy if you are fasting. So, eat some meat in this case. Or fried bacon and eggs for breakfast. Watch videos at my channel for details.

@@harryballs3445 Thanks for your time to reply. I am on the strict carnivore/ketogenic diet. Berberine can work better than Metformin. I have no exess of fat but muscles. My weight went from 64 to 76 kg recently for my 172 cm hight not because of fat but the growing mucle mass. I am actually surprised that in my age of 65 muscles can grow so quick (3 month in a gym). I am on a rejuvenation program and it works. My blood pressure is like of a toddler 85/56. It used to be 120/80. Not any longer. My vital lung capacity is 5,300 ml and growing. I do intense endurance exercises for 90 min (rowing) + resistance exercise 3-4 times a week and feel great. Like a superman. You may check my KZread channel, if you are interested in details. Yet, the rules are "no pain - no gain", "use it or lose it". Cheers.
