The issue I see with the Batman family is that a lot of writers will make their own pet OC, insert them into the Bat Family and then have their run revolve around them. They forget that the first 5 or so "sidekicks" were all created to fulfill specific emotional and narrative roles. Dick Grayson was created to make Batman less like The Shadow, give him a partner, and attract teen readers. Jason Todd was created to do that after Dick Grayson "graduated." Tim Drake was created to do that after Jason Todd died. Barbara Gordon was created as a female counterpart who wasn't directly under Batman's control. Cassandra Cain fulfilled that same role but filled another niche of being as physically capable as Batman but with her own shortcomings that required her to have aid (which she would get from Barbara Gordon and Stephanie Brown). Every other member of the Bat Family is redundant.

I just read that Simpson’s internationale issue a few months ago, man that was fun. Ty Templeton and you are my two favorite Bongo Simpsons writers.

I never liked how Neil Gaiman introduced himself in that BBC Steve Ditko documentary. He's like 'I am a writer...' then almost begrudgingly, '...one of the things I write, is comics.' It's like bro, just say you're a comic writer, and don't take all day about it next time.

Question for the show. Picture this scenario: someone creates a regular Batman comic by himself, posts it online for free through image hosting platforms or file sharing, finds an audience, then creates something like a Patreon profile where the audience sends him money to support him without it being directly tied to the comic, basically allowing him to create Batman comics and getting paid by the audience to keep doing it. Do you think this would cause legal issues, and if so do you think it could be stopped and how? Also, if it's possible to pull it off, do you think it's weird that nobody has done it yet with any popular IP (always providing it didn't happen already)? I just remembered right now about Bat In The Sun, the people that make those fan-made Batman shorts, I never got into it but I assume they must have monetized their stuff somehow, and it's been going on for more than a decade.

When you were talking about Will Elder and said how other artists will paint a comic, they end up making it pretty flat. I couldn't help but wonder if that is your opinion of Alex Ross' work or just anyone who fancies themselves a painter and doesn't appreciate the art form of comics.

I think the large number of Batman family characters are a way to test out writers for other/ obscure DC superheroes. When it is not a safe bet for cash flow.

More Nolan and Dixon on the Real BBC please... That show was GOLD and just the best takes from the O.G's and the BBC Boys. Please do more, it really is a game changer for the Iron Age era. Thank you for doing what you do, I'm hoping to get your monster verse books soon, but I might miss the timing (I'm in AUS and the shipping costs completely bust my nuts) will do my best tho, it looks awesome.

Slayground was a pretty weak book in the series anyway. I mean its okay but its not the strongest entry. Statham's movie was okay but I agree, he didn't do a good job as Parker and the story wasn't great. I envision Parker as Lee Marvin but Mitchum probably could have done it too.
