I started on dirt bikes. Riding well on loose stuff makes pavement a breeze. My first bike was an it250. Old and slow but still fun as hell. Then a few 600s and one 750. Now on a 1997 yzf600r and loving it. Waaay more power than I need to get to work! 98 ish bhp from the factory. She’s a bit heavy but I have upgraded springs on the front so she isn’t slushy like factory models.

First bike with a clutch I’ve had is the sv650. Beautiful starter bike for anyone with decent experience on a two wheeled vehicle. Only experience I’ve had before hand was scooters and mini bikes

Its good to ride dirt bikes and for teenagers they make allot of sense. But a dirt bike is completely different to a road bike. Very different skills are required.

I started on a 1200 indian scout bobber. Don't be afraid. You'll out grow a small bike in a month tops

I started on a 500cc (cb500f). Took three or four days for an hour or two a day in a parking lot by my house just getting used to a manual transmission/throttle/etc. I've had it for about two months now and I'm still really happy with it! I rarely need to push it to its red line and I've never actually gone in sixth gear in my urban commuting lifestyle. I don't plan on upgrading to a larger bike for at least another season, so it'll last me at least two or three years before I try and sell it. If you can find one, I'd definitely recommend a 500cc!

Same here except I own the cbr300r, only pushed it to the top speed once or twice. Capable enough to travel on the hwy and more than enough for city streets

I started on a 1000cc bike and never looked back. Just took my time learning in parking lots and back roads doing u turns, tight circles, standing on pegs and shift my weight to keep the bike balanced while stationary etc etc

For months I been on a 124cc Kawasaki Eliminator 125. Been all lover except the interstates. Had it at near 74mph at rare times. What max cc should I get now since I am still learning? Thank you.

DONT buy a grom or a monkey for your first bike, you will quickly regret it after a month or two of riding and you’re in the hole stuck trying to sell it to get a bigger bike. Start out on a 500 cruiser or something of that caliber.

The only thing that matters is the head space and intelligence of the rider, Do not listen to this bullshit about buying a smaller cc first, if you learn to ride a small bike then that's what you know how to ride I learned to ride a dyna and was able to skip this propaganda about buying a small bike.
