    I got this shoe for my runs on asphalt, gravel paths and park like green areas, I think its perfect for that. For rougher trails and the mountains I got the Asics Trabuco Max, which is similar, also lots of cushioning, but more stable with less heel drop, and more aggressive lugs. Those two cover really anything a hobbyist runner could need imo.

    I have the Trabuco Max. Very good shoes. I like them but they aren’t the most stable shoes for difficult terrain.

    It is interesting that few years back this outsole would look like a standard road design. So, that is why I decided to get TR - to avoid sliding on wet roads, no matter is it an asphalt, stones, marble, sand or a bit mud.

    I also got the Novablast 4 TR after years of basically no running and now beeing motivated and did lots of research. The TR Version ist excactly the same shoe (doesn't matter if Novablast 3 or 4) just with more rubber which leads to deeper grooves. That's all! There is nothing else changed. And this bit more rubber to get a little bit of "grooves" makes the shoe like 15g+ heavier or something - not even noticeable. I also used mine for the "trails" around my city, so like 15min flat asphalt, then steep uphill, flat, steep downhill, forest and ground mixed and although the stack hight is high and the Novablast 4 TR are not trail shoes, i had no problems with them. I mean, sure, I watched out of course, but it is no nightmare at all. Also, the Novablast 4 seems to have a wider base which makes them more stable against kipping when you step on larger stones sidewards. Here it was mostly roots (you step over) and foresty ground. And then 20-30 min asphalt home. It is my Asphalt shoe but when you run a little bit offroad, you can do that without having a too hard or a bad time.

    I got this shoe, but after a few runs I developed plantar fasciitis real bad on my left foot. I finally figured out that the shoe was too cushiony and causing me to over-pronate. I went back to a stability shoe and the pain went away rather quickly. I plan to only use this shoe for walks now.

    I run only on paved surfaces, and considered buying this trail shoe for that.. My thoughts are that if there is less rubber contact on the pavement than it might be more diverse. Less rubber on the ground may help for landing.. And less rubber may make it easier to turn or flow through the gate cycle.. However, I hate shoes that dont breathe well... If I look inside the shoe and cannot see light through it, then it is likely too hot.. Especially if there are not visible breathing holes on he outside AND if it has a gusseted tongue. All that makes it too hot

  • @chris.schmied

    @chris.schmied

    Жыл бұрын

    They seemed warm on my run on the mountain. But I’ve had no breathability issues on my regular runs. ( however the days are pretty cool right now ) Not sure how they will be on hot summer days. I think the regular version might have less rubber on the outsole than the TR version.

    @@chris.schmied ya, there may be more rubber on the TR version but I am thinking there is less contact area too.. And that is what I am thinking about. Less contact area creates a more free and nimble feeling even on pavement.

    Novablast runs long (at least talking about US sizes). In the US sizes, it is often recommended to size down 1/2 unless you have wide feet in which case it can be too narrow if you size down. Typically, with 1/2 down you still have a thumb width space in front of your toes.

    No, since the TR is excactly the same shoe, jus tthe outsole rubber is a little bit thicker, which creates a little deeper "grooves". That's it. And that additional rubber makes like 15g+ grams or so - not even noticeable.
