Asia "Here Comes The Feeling" On Canvas Preview - Feb. 14, 2013 Episode

Фильм және анимация

We caught up to Asia during their 30th Anniversary World Tour which included all the original members. Asia's debut album exploded onto the music scene in March 1982 with several Top 10 singles and sales exceeding 7 million copies. Members of this "supergroup", featuring bassist/vocalist John Wetton, drummer Carl Palmer, keyboardist Geoff Downes, and guitarist Steve Howe emerged from such veteran bands as "YES", "Emerson, Lake and Palmer", "Buggles" and "King Crimson." Their On Canvas feature is likely to be the last opportunity to see these four original Asia members perform together, since guitarist Steve Howe has recently left the band.

Their best song by far. Sounds a lot like ELP.

John Wetton is singing a song live onstage that was recorded in a plush studio 30 years ago and people are surprised he sounds different? This dude almost died from a heart attack a few short years ago too. How are YOU now compared to how you were 30 years ago?

+Fraevo10 Indeed, John also sounded different on the Asia album Phoenix released in 2008. It's a brave point of him to get back on the stage. My only critical point about him is that he's got to be more open to be less narrow to people who are more unusual, because we've got ot realise what the revolutionairy musicians of today are about. Geoff Downes is probably really kind, and he's also an important inspiration-source of me.

Agreed. Wetton still sounds great. All of them do.

John's singing great here but the very dry and compressed sound on his vocal (and elsewhere) is most unflattering.

there is a definite difference between live and studio. John is still in great form and so is the rest of band. very rarely do you run across a band that after 30 years still has it. what's sad now is that Steve Howe retired from Asia. Let's hope Sam Coulson can help keep the momentum with guys old enough to be his grandfathers.

Awesome! What's truly sad - are you people who are disappointed in what's happened to Greg Lake, over the last 7 years ... how he hasn't been taking care of himself - and you're trying to drag Wetton down, to Greg, by claiming his voice is subpar. John Wetton's mic needed to be turned up, in the mix, but he sounds good here ... hitting the notes (unlike Greg, in the DISASTROUS Tokyo MTV concert, 30 years ago .. trying to sing Asia songs). (Stop and consider that, for a moment)

To address the Greg Lake thing, he HAS let himself go. He doesn't look like himself anymore. Pity.
