Ashtanga Sun Salutations and Fundamentals to the Beat of the Drum

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

One of the most challenging aspects of practicing Ashtanga at home is keeping a steady count as you inhale and exhale throughout each movement.
In this targeted practice, we’ll guide you through a sequence of sun salutations and fundamental poses to help you tap into an equal duration of breath with each movement. Moving with intentionality and focus will then allow you to deepen your practice and build up more self-awareness. Practice alongside Jelena as David guides you to the sound of a drumbeat metronome.
You can also practice on your own with this special drumbeat!
Perfect for anyone from beginners to advanced practitioners, this steady beat takes your mind off the counting so you can direct your concentration and focus where it really matters. Purchase this downloadable MP3 track from our website here: www.davidandjelenayoga.com/pr...

👏👏👏👏👏to Jelena during Utplutih ...... cause that was a looooooong 10 count David. I have to say I love this practice and I purchased it online to work through on my off days when the energy for a full primary isn't quite there. Thanks David for creating it.

I LOVED the drum. It's a VERY practical and effective way of performing the practice because it's a constant reminder of the importance of vinyasa. I am more present and focused on what I'm doing instead of thoughts outside of what I'm doing NOW. Thank you!

Thanks a lot, dear David and Jelena! This is the best way to feel why ashtanga yoga is called " a dynamic meditation", I realized my mind in the deep meditative state at the end of the practice 🙏. I also tried to apply the same breathing and counting technique for approaching Sirsasana, and it was so easy, I didn't even notice any effort to lift my legs up. You are brilliant teachers, and I hope one day to attend your class offline 🙂.

Thank you for the video, its super helpfull and I really like the fact of doing the same practice everyday like a corporal meditation. But Ive also been thinking about the fact that in this type of yoga one do the same asanas everyday. Is there some risk with that? What other excercises can you recommend to combine with my Ashtanga practice to work all the body and keep healthy? Since Ashtanga repeats the same asanas everytime I presume some parts of the body can easily become sore/overworked sometimes and other parts maybe more "forgotten"? Would be great to get some tips/adviced! Thank you!

I really like your way of the explanation. Simply the best!❤❤❤ Also where can I buy the same yoga mat you have? I find this lines and markings to be so beneficial, especially for me as a beginner. I think with these lines I will know where to place my arms, feet etc. Is this one of your merchandise?

The drum beat is good in knowing how much breathing and where it is to moving/ posturing. As a beginner I'm struggling with keeping up...having to slow down, skip a movement to catch breath/ recover, or hold say up dog longer before going into down dog with 5 breaths. I understand that that is where I am and time in practice will bring improvements. Is there a way to methodically add extra breaths/pauses/or slow downs to optimize improving but not sacrificing Asthanga purpose of movement/ breath? Or is it just messy until strength and endurance are built up?

You both are great dear thank you for the video and the mind behind it however I found so many things going at the same time, the drum, the sanskrit counting, alignment, in and ex hale, asana names, it a bit too much to follow, if this was more like just counting inhale and exhale for 4 sec secronized with drums and naming asanas would more beneficial and simple to follow dear ❤
