School bus memories. The one I used to travel in was a retired long distance Ashok Leyland coach with Utkal body fitted with one of these roaring engines. Loved the growl these made when accelerating.

Leyland old engines are one of the best sounding engines, glorious bass, but sadly absent on modern hino engined leylands

@@arulpr49 from what I have noticed, bs3 hino is the best with a smooth sounding engine, bs4 though very silent at idling gets harsh and gruff when the engine is revved nvh levels are not good, hino engines though good and efficient lack the character of old leyland engines

So melodious, I use to have both 370 & 401 engined trucks .....Comet, Comet Super and Taurus during my childhood.....unfortunately leyland no longer manufactures such engines......

Wow.. this sound we don't get to ear in new trucks.. .. remember my dad's A-L with similar sound.. best truck we ever had.. for 6 months it was not started n when we got a buyer after 6 months.. n it started in a single self.. like it was saying.. enough.. I need payload n hit the road.. ultimately that buyer scraped it within 2 years..

I could fall asleep to this sound. Thank you for putting this up; absolutely a treat for the soul! :3

I use to own Mercedes, Bedford & Tata buses in Malaysia, but this engine's sound is so much quieter. Same level with latest Japanese engine sound.

Kya awaz hai leyland 400 401 412 is great engine
