Miss nectarine had me in tears. As a queer person, it’s such a beautifully written and tragic song of how we couldn’t be ourselves growing up because of the backlash and insecurity we’d face in our families. LOVE this album tho. Has this tragic song but also THE BANGERS ARE ENDLESS

so basically the concept of the album is her character used to be this whimsical fairy in a pretty world but then these AI huge monster machines come and destroy the world filled with ash and dirt, but she somehow survived, with her wings pulled right off and ruined, the AI machines realize she still alive and can be one of them. so they replace her wings with crushed metal wing like shits. and through the album she just goes through dirt & grind to get to something soft hence dying star 🫶🏼 this album is ART 💙 quick short concept of the album but yeah 🙃

Ashinikko like Melanie also has a story that goes with this album that she's making a comic about! The story is that a little Fairy's whole home family and lover are destroyed by these giant robots the WEEDKILLERS, (World Eater) she is the only one left who survives but her wings are damaged. One of the WEEDKILLERS takes pity on her and builds her new wings out of scrap Metal then leaves her, However, she can't fly with these heavy metal wings so they're just waying her down. She is hellbent on getting revenge (You Make Me Sick is her anger) so she sets on a Journey to eliminate all the WEEDKILL ERS (Worms is the start of her Journey) Eventually she gets there and kills them all( in the Song WEEDKILLER everything else in between is just her journey and filler) (Want It All is her Victory song) but then there's nothing left on her planet so she leaves to go find a new one (Dying Star).

Came to say this glad someone else did first! When I listened to the song before hearing her talk about the meaning I could pick up on the lyricism being about women’s rights, but I understand so much more about the lyrics after knowing it was written after roe vs wade being overturned. Such a powerful song

lmao ethel is a woman and she’s rly good !! she’s my no. 1 artist this year and her music is perfect. i recommend reacting to preachers daughter and inbred and if you don’t want to, i still definitely recommend listening at some point. in total i have 11,936 min for ethel and 10,357 for Taylor which i think is utterly insane with only one debut album. p.s. ethel is lana’s child by voice and melanie’s child by imagery. love u bae

Also regarding the songs and their meanings, the album tells the story of a fae civilization occupied and destroyed by machines (The WEEDKILLERS) that feed on organic matter. The faerie protagonist seeks revenge by becoming part machine. (Her wings.) About half of the songs are apart of this story. She also has a collab with D.C. with a comic book, 12 pages, called Husk: A tale from the WEEDKILLER woods that I would assume talks about the lore. it has sm lore.

Also Ash said the whole concept of this album is an epic adventure of a fairy (herself) whos fighting a world took over by robots and she does a lot of bad stuff to survive, hurt a lot of people but in the end she survives and leave in search of a better world. That's why she ends it with the "I want something soft".
