Barty is such an inspiration. When she first broke the top 20, her backhand slice was loose and error-prone, her forehand was unreliable, her serve was good nothing special. Since becoming #1, she's consistently near the top for ace leaderboard with an incredible serve for her height, her forehand is explosive but accurate, and her backhand slice applies such persistent pressure. Just an amazing athlete whose improvement has been so fun to watch.

No regrets for my lovely and brilliant Iga: Barty right now is exceptional, so congrats to her, she's the true n° 1 and deservedly so. This match emphasizes the crucial importance of the serve at the highest level: usually, Iga takes 1 break in every set, but makes 2 and that's enough to win most matches. But at this level even 1 break is so hard to score, let alone 2... simply unsustainable. This is enough to tilt the match from the very beginning, not only technically but also mentally: there's overwhelming pressure on Iga backhand and forehand, which are literally pushed to their limit, and also the inescapable unforced errors. Serve is the priority, but there's more; Barty's superior technique and wonderful variety have to be of inspiration for Iga, especially more online backhands, more clever/tactical back shots, and last but not the least netplay. Barty is definitely the "Maestra" to follow, jazdaaa!

This match did not emphasize anything, but how the WTA is still cheating on draws. Barty did not have but two people and they are the ones she usually beats. I notice that she did not get Azarenka or Shelby Rogers in her draw. They gave her opponents where she did not do anything but stand her a$$ up the whole tournament and no she does not deserve to be in the number one spot, because she does not currently have the most slams.

I'm an aussie, so I am a bit biased. It's been so good to watch Ash over the last three years. When I first saw her, I thought, top twenty for sure, maybe top ten, outside chance of winning the aussie open. I always thought her lack of height would make it tough for her. However, she has just done so well. She has such a brilliant serve and amazing slice. A number of writers have said she is a modern day Hingis, small with great skills. She's got a better serve than Martina. Maybe not quite as good as Martina at net and Martina had a better topspin backhand but its an interesting comparison. It's a little like seeing a man of five nine or five ten, dominating the men's game. Hewitt did that for a while but he didn't have Ash's skills. Well done, Ash. We are all so proud of you. An even better person, too. A national treasure. xx

Barty, proving once again, that she deserves the world number one ranking. Her slice and serve is lethal, it sets her up so well for her forehand winners Swiatek, still young, but of so much potential and talent, still needs to work on her mental game as well as her tactics on court. She needs to have a plan B and C when things are not going her way. However, she’s definitely on the path to be a future world number 1 player + multiple grand slam winner

The WTA has found their new cute White woman to give confidence and momentum to, Iga, giving her such easy draws after her Doha win. There are certain low seeds who would give Iga trouble in early rounds and the WTA know this so they put those other players in the other draws. I will never condone Iga as a legit champion until the WTA plays fair with EVERYONE instead of favoring Iga. Barty was the True #1. This is for the halfwitted fans: of course she would have to face tougher players in the semis but surely the finals, but seeing how she's been handed the momentum and confidence by WTA, the other top players are played with their minds. WTA know this. Cheats, bias and prejudice is what they are.

Współpraca z trenerem Wiktorowskim przyniesie dobre efekty. Już w tym turnieju było widać pozytywy. Nawet w dzisiejszym meczu Iga miała swoje momenty. Starała się i walczyła do końca. She's a wonderful ball striker, great athlete, and it seems like she's getting her timing on hard courts, which could be trouble for her competition. That’s not true Swiatek is a tennis prodigy. Win her first grand slam at 19 and we knew she would dominate the game later or sooner. She is a completely different player since her defeat to Ostapenko. Did Barty had a streak or won consecutive titles? I don’t think so

@@stef2330 Barty was beating her straight up head to head. lt's on video. Now it would be wrong to say that Iga wasn't going to catch up and make it a rivalry if Barty hasn't retired. No one was going to stop Iga from winning majors. Based on their past to ignore what's already on tape is kind of strange. Iga will dominate for quite some time. lf Barty was still playing Iga would eventually start beating her and then the 2 would go back and forth. That's the way sports works. Look at the big 3 in men's tennis. Too bad we won't get to see Barty vs Swiatek for the next 5 years.

It’s sad Ash retired but it’s not the first time a top player o world number one retires and iga will be probably done with the sport if she wins an Olympic medal at Paris 2024 and go to college (age 23). This dominance from Iga will rise the level of the field so the rivalries are coming especially on grass right now since iga is still learning how to play on it.

@@lucasalvarani317 Finally, someone who knows tennis. I watched all of Iga's matches last year. (online) I have been saying this for some time. Her first serve percentage (for the year) was the lowest of the 8 players who played in the finals in Guadalajara last year. It is often in the 50s or lower. Not only that, but it is not much of a weapon when she is getting her first serve in (she had 7 aces against Barty which is unusually high for Iga). Until Iga can transform her serve into a real weapon, she will have trouble against the top players. All of the top players have very good serves (Barty, Osaka, Sabalenka, Pliskova, Sakkari, etc.....). Barty is very small, yet she has one of the best serves in the game. She had 17 aces against Kenin and hit many more serves that were not aces but were unreturnable. Kenin had no chance. Barty did not serve as well against Iga, but she is still able to put players on the defense, even when she isn't hitting aces. Iga always has a few weak service games. She can get by with it against lesser opponents but against the top players, it will not work. I hope her new coach will concentrate on strengthening her serve. If not, she will continue to have trouble against some of the top players.

Iga's serve is her downfall in matches like these. When her opponents can neutralize her groundies, she can't rely on her serve for free points. It needs some fixing. Barty, on the other hand, has an efficient serve that can bail her out of tough situations & give her free points.

The thing with the big 3 in mens tennis is that they hate losing so much that it makes them push to win. The girls could push a bit more. But I hope Swiatek will become stronger.
