A performance of Azeri bards from Tabriz, called Ashiq, with the ensemble of Ashiq Eskandari at the foot of the Armenian church of Sohrol, 40km away from Tabriz.
Recorded during A Musical Tour of West Iran, a 2 weeks long guided tour around the provinces of Azerbaijan, Kordestan and Kermanshah in June 2019, with Patrick Ringgenberg, Mathieu Clavel & Nadia Najmi.

    Bonjour, quelle est la raison de ce rassemblement et du choix du lieu ? C’est surprenant que les Asiq jouent devant l’église arménienne de Sohrol. Les spectateurs sont ils tous villageois du village que l’on voit plus bas ? Est-ce une population mixte avec des non-Azéris ? L’Eglise conserve t-elle des rites ou bien est-ce juste un lieu touristique restauré et laissé à l’abandon ? Qui est le joueur de duduk/balaban ?

    I think it is for touristic purpuses, as you can see some non iranian visitors there
