Idle your engine down. You're wearing your clutch out at an idle. There should be no jingle or rattle. The clutch dogs are slightly engaging the bell causing that jingle. Not enough to engage the blade, but it Will wear out the clutch very fast. It's worse idling like that than cutting. Idle screw will fix that easy. It's idling too fast causing slight premature engagement. Hope you caught it quick. And yes. Log stops are on wrong side. Dangerous as weight is on log clamps when cutting. Should be opposite

Thanks for pointing that out about the idle. I just thought that was something rattling. I’ll look into it

@andylynnpei Page 26 of the manual states: "Ensure all bunks are oriented so that the log support sleeves are all on the same side." It does not sate which side. Same side. It means either. It's built to be reversible. Not every one can be installed and oriented in the same direction every single time. Some will load from the left, and some from the right. The track is built that way. The log clamp arm need to be on the opposite side but the connecting rod runs the width of the track and on page 33 the figure shows it being bolted in on the same side as the stops with the arm setting to the opposite. He's got is set up just right for the way he's loading it.

​​​@JnitraM078 Humbly and Graciously NO! check every video or manual on Woodland Milss. Or any bansaw mill. The human is always cutting while walking down the side opposite the log stops. The log CLAMPS MUST always be on the side with the human operator walks down while cutting, and logSTOPS opposite side from him. The blade direction pushes the log toward the log stops. Solid stop for the log This setup the blade direction pushes the log into log clamp. They can let go if not tight, and the log clamp is taking the weight of log from blade direction push If a log clamp is loose the log will shift and bind or worse break blade abd snap a danger to all. Or worse if the loose log clamp drops, the log flies off the mill. It's all incredibly dangerous. You can load from either side, correct.. He can still load from the same side... but He can fix this danger and misuse, by flipping head 190 degrees and starting from opposite end, cutting toward the shed... Then is all 100% no need to disassemble anything. no need to turn the track. Turn the head pick it up with 3 guys. Then its fixed and logs still load from the same side. Its not an assembly problem.... its just the head orientation... turn it 190 degrees. Sure the shed is on the wrong end.... but its no issue. When finshed cutting roll the head to the end under the shelter. Still protected. But now you will be cutting toward the shack direction, but proper and safe. No need to disassemble anything 4 men turn head around 190 degrees 2 min work. Dont touch the track. I am trying to be very nice and kind here. But PLEASE... Your post is dangerous to this man, or any novice watching who doesn't know. Go look at any WM video, any sawmill in the world, on Woodland Mills, norwood, etc.... See which side the human is on and where the Log stops are in orientation to him. Logstops are on side opposite of the human. Log clamps on the mans working walking side. Owner of this site, PLEASE consider removing this guys post ASAP so no one reads it and gets hurt. Or if you are the poster, please delete this comment ASAP. Go check... quickly.... you will see. I know your just mistaken and not understanding your error. That happens to us all. But Someone can get seriously hurt if they model this or read your comment.

Great video ! good start I know I'm seeing this 9months later, but hey your not the first person to build the track then put the head on from the wrong end, Hopefully you got it sorted before you had something fly apart, Keep the videos coming, I will be setting my HM122 up in a few days , Cheers !

I have an HM122 saw mill. Bought it two years ago. The log stops on your mill are on the wrong side. They should be on the dicharge side of the cutter head. That way the force of the blade cutting through the log is pushing against them instead of the clamp holding all of the force. I think you put the log bunks in opposite of what they should have been installed. Not critisizing , just FYI. Have fun with your mill. ------- Bob

I realized that a little while after I set it up. I decided against spinning the mill around because I’d be facing into the sun. I’ll switch the posts over when I’m able to load the logs from the other side.

You can just rotate your bunks 180 degrees to fix that problem.

@@workshed3996 I was going to comment about the same thing but after looking at it from a different view.....you will save blades this way for two reasons...#1- log stops on operators side are easier to see and NOT hit. #2 - after your first cut you will always be cutting into NO Bark side which will save blades in the long run. I've actually been thinking about doing this myself after adding extra log clamps. SAVE BLADE WARE !!!!!

Are you still happy with the 122 ? i don't have really big logs and it's chesnut, I thought the 122 would be a little weak, but looking at you it looks quite capable of eating large diameter hardwood

I am happy with it. I have had a few logs that were too big for it but it does 99% of what I pull out of the woods.

Slide you some pieces of 2" PVC pipe over those log stops when turning your cant.

I bet you go thru a lot of water. Just sayin', but doesn't the manual say 1 to 2 drops of water per second?

Is that the 7 or 9.5 hp model? How does it do in that hardwood?

it's the 9.5 hp. It is a little slow through the hardwood but it can handle it.

Dude you need to make and use a toe board jack for those tapered logs. you'll get more and better quality boards keeping grain straighter with each cut.

Turn your bunks around so you are pushing the log into the stops not your dog's

Is the bark harder on the blade or is it the stuff embedded in the bark?
