Ascending with the Croll and Hand Ascender. Descending with the Clutch. Petzl ASAP backup.

This video demonstrates ascending rope using the Petzl avao harness with the built in croll chest ascender, and a hand ascender with foot loop. The Petzl ASAP is used for a backup device. Converting to descent on a CMC clutch is also demonstrated.

Great easy explanation. Thanks for the video.

This is a nice video, but it would be more useful if it included a gear list (it wouldn't have to include the ropes or harnesses to be useful). That would help with not having to make out the names of tech gear, given the horrific background noise competing with the audio.

Way to much gear am an arborist and I guarantee you I will beat you with the old ways 100 percent and it safer less to worry about and learn I bet you guys only use that stuff once in a blue moon and when you do you don’t climb that high I climb 50 plus feet multiple times a day no problem with the old time set up you guys should learn just cause it new don’t mean it better

Classic case of a guy not knowing who he is talking to. You are coming at me with some strong aggression dude. First of all, I never said this is the fastest way to ascend. This is a typical way to ascend in rope access and rope rescue professions. I also do tree work and I prefer to ascend with my Unicender, SAKA knee ascender, and foot ascender. A little Technique called rope walking. I guarantee it’s faster than the “old way” you are referring to. What do you do? Hip thrust on a Blake’s hitch? If you want another video featuring me ascending in trees, check out the official Rock Exotica Unicender KZread video. Have a good night.

I'm about to deal with just his type of attitude with our volunteer dept. I get the classic, "we do things a little differently here" speech quite often. Usually, this means without regard for safety on the part of the rescuers. I respond with, "yeah, and I was only a paid, full time fire fighter at an ISO 1 dept for 32 years so we are going to do things my way." "This may or may not agree with you, but that's how we will conduct any technical rescue." Very nice demo! Techniques and equipment have come a long way in 40 years! @@dangerstall
