I love watching the full match. Definitely the players and refs facing off.

Asal is an amazing player he’s got it all never liked him at all previously when he was up to his antics,I’m now warming to him and having wilstrop in his corner will help a lot ,come on asal let’s see all your marvellous talent in the future with no aggravation

as a fellow squash pro and being familiar with ... the more unfortunate aspects of asal's game, i've gotta say he's really made strides in his maturity and sportsmanship. obviously still little things to poke at here and there, but i no longer think those are bad intention and more just bad habit from playing the way he had for so long. love the progress, it's only good for the game to want a cleaner state of play from everyone

First time I disagree with the commentators. The "no let" at 31:24 was because Asal first went for the ball correctly and then made a side step to intentionally step into Bonmalais looking for an easy stroke. I don't think the commentators saw the side stepping which overrules any "quality of the drop" discussion.

Yeah, he was trying to clear so it was unfortunate. But he cleared straight into his opponent's swing 😞

SquashTV clearly being told by the PSA to protect/not criticise Asal and his dubious movements/hand grabs, pathetic!

it's a bit like the commentators try to redeem Asal...

Live squash windy 2024

Asal played really well against tough opponent and was fair in every way. Remained in good spirits even when the odd judgement did not go his way. Real talent and sportmanship!

@44:11 ref says bonmalais is leaving the ball mid court and shot he played was mm away from the wall. Asal plays his shot and giving no path to the ball. If you going to play a quick length you must just as fast enough in making a path for the other player. Refs just gives nonsense explanations that does not make any sense most of the time. Refs are the law

He was definitely trying to interfere. Look at his hand after the interference, it is still stiff and moving forward. Would not have happened if it was involuntary.

@@randomman69420Z but he’s a fan favourite. All of his blocking and movements are accidental. He doesn’t do it on purpose. Other PSA players get along with him outside squash as well. Asal is so kind hearted.

Did the commentators watch the same game as displayed here?!?!? Asal was constantly blocking intentionally, grabbing rackets and creating interference on loads of balls! You are saying he is trying to clear, and you are feeling sorry for him? But he is clearly just still constantly trying to damage the game!

How much money is he paying you. You could never compare him to ramy or nick. A person of the court is not comparable to an individual on the court. If you were to compare a player to ramy, I would be speaking of Ali farag, gawad or even heshem. Your bias is inconceivable. Asal game has amazing shots with poor movement that is geared at interfering with the opposing player. He is dangerous to himself and others. Do you see Ali farag, elshobagi, gawad, heshem get into these dramas like him. He could never be the face of squash as long Ali farag is on the scene. No one can touch Ali farag while he is playing. Ali farag is arguably the best Egyptian player of all time. I'm a ramy fan, but Sadly I think Ali would have the advantage over him if they were in the same generation.

@spreg2002 I’m sorry but no. The only advantage Ali would have over Ramy is movement. Having seen both play live several times in their respective primes, Ramy was far gifted with the racket (IMHO most gifted ever), could read the game better, was faster and mentally far tougher. Don’t forget his unbeaten streak of a whole year against a golden generation of players (i think was the 2013-2014 season against Nick, Greg, James, Mohammed, Karim). This alone will be near impossible to repeat again. And Ramy did all of this while living with an injury that plagued him since before he went pro. If he didn’t have that injury, his dominance would have been far greater and indisputably the best ever. (Now it’s debatable). Ramy changed the game and many these current Egyptian player are a product of his game. Don’t get me wrong, Ali is a special talent ( obvious to see when seeing him play as a youth way before he was known on the world stage) but it’s a reach to call him the best ever.

There truth in what you say but it does not determine there levels higher these players on this generation because the same players are not in front of them at the same peaks of their of their performances. One thing I can say I have watched the how ramy played elshobagy in all there matches and how Ali played elshobagy and Ali's confidence showed more than elshobagy and Ali has suffered with an injury that caused him adjust his game to adapt to the operation he had. Ramy had battles with elshobagy but I would not say he was much better.

Don’t forget that peak Shorbagy played during Ramy’s peak so the levels were close whilst Ali was early in his career and not at their level. Shorbagy is now past his peak so we expect to see Ali more confident and more dominant in their matches. Also Ramy’s injury was far more severe. He had to rebuild his knee and they used a technique that ended up severely shortening his hamstring. This is why he was plagued with injuries throughout his career. Ali has been relatively injury free.
