Great comments. Completely agreed. The way he would bring the highest of his pitch to the lowest is awesome. And on top of that the quality of voice never dropped a bit. What a man he was. I have met and seen him very closely in 1984 at a friend’s place. He was very handsome and charming.

No words to describe my emotions. I was too young that time when this show was aired on NTM channel. I think it was an occasion may be Eid or Independence day, a few memories left but this song still refreshes my soul whenever I feel alone abroad.

when i used to go Faislaabad from islamabad.. usually lat at night .... i just switch off my car engine and immediately after coming out of car i used to look upside..i always saw my mother (late) there on the window side.. she used to wake up with car engine sound and I find her there looking at me.. and i used to say salam... and she used to smile and say wasalam...and so on... whenever i heard this song.... eyes get wet and start missing all those days... it becomes sever when now abroad...

Pakistan mae bohat achay singers, musicians hain magar patiyala gharanay ki baat sab se alag hai.........Ustad amanat ali ko sunain, ya hamid ali khan, asad ko sunain ya shafqat ko...sab hie mauseeqi ko mauseeqi ki asal rooh mae paish kartay hain...bohat shukria is khubsoorat masterpiece ko paish karne ka.

A truly great rendition, that I listen to with my eyes closed, and it saddens me to realise that He lives no more. RIP Asad Amanat Ali, the music is poorer without you.

He is at his best here. His voice has some magic which makes one spellbound, and it saddens to know that his lives no more.

this is the dilemma every poverty escaping migrant has to deal with. me as well got what i wanted in america, but feel empty when i try to go back. always felt like a tree shovelled out of its original soil, and yes i grew but fruitless.

Very amazing & touching poetry, excellently sung by Legend Asad Amanat Ali Khan…

Returning after 7 years, there was a time in Pakistan everyone was afraid of the FIRST dictator of the country Gen Ayub, Altaf was his information minister, needless to say I disliked them immensely. More than half a century later I am listening to this and loving it because it is hitting very close. After all Altaf was a poet (making him a prophet, but he was also a human being full of weaknesses); tonight I am burying my feelings because of this beautiful poem. The theme is, someone is gone for a long, long time, then he returns; there is no one left who loved him and waited for him, now they all are gone. A story of my life, when you return, if you do, you will never find what you left. And then I would rather take a clue from an other unorthodox poet Meeraji, "Nagree nagree phira musafir, ghar kka rusta bhool gaya (a traveled went too far and could not find his home)

I always loved this ghazal but this now brings whole lot of different meanings after losing some one.
