Yeah. :/ I wish we had good comedy & verity shows like this & Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In. Too bad that this stuff today is not as good as back in the day.

Carol's reaction at seeing Harvey was real, as she had never seen him in the Mother Marcus Drag before! She really couldn't keep a straight face.

Who could. I saw that skit the other night on the Carol Burnett show "As the Stomach Turns". Harvey was dressed as Mother Marcus. The camera was on Carol's face and she was trying not to burst out laughing.

Our family watched this on first run and we all pretty much fell on the floor at how the audience and Burnett just couldn't stop the laughter. It feels like this must be one of the longest laughing fits in tv variety show history.

OMG ME TOO! I miss him so much! If you'd like to read the Paul Lynde book Cathy Rudolph has a book just look up "Biography of Paul Lynde: The Life, Love(s) & Laughter" on Amazon. Its the only one up there that is a book. (The listing has his face on it. I highly recommend the book.)

I think it is cruel and unusual punishment to have Harvey, Paul, and Carol in the same skit. I laughed so hard I just know I pulled something 😂😂😂😂😂

It's one of the best of this kind of show. It wouldn't fly today though. Or if it did it would be 60+% vulgar & I do not like that kind of thing.

RIP Harvey Kormam playing a funny jewish lady so awesome...Miss them..and Paul Lynde was fabulous also.

Correct as myth goes. Story told is that the costume wasn't ready until just before dress rehearsal (1st taping). Carol's reaction is genuine as it's her first time seeing Harvey in the dress as 'Mother Marcus' character. Don't know if true or not. Haven't seen interview with Carole speaking about it.

One day we will get an interview talking about it... I hope "Television Academy Interviews" webpage has about 4,000 videos of interviews on there as pf about a year ago.

They just went with it! She closed the door on his boobs. These 2 moves were unscripted. That's what made this show so funny. Plus they laughed at themselves, and other actors who did the same. Live tv where they kept the bloopers in.

What a gem! From what I have read of Paul Lynde, he really was a drinker, and it wouldn’t surprise me if he knew something about masochism either. I think he must have led a sad private life, not being able to just come out of the closet and instead having to deal with his sexuality by being campy. This episode of ATST, like all of them, is a gem.

Omg me too! 💖😘 Paul on these types of videos (adding comedy to everything) {Fun fact there was 1 movie that he was in where he was supposed to act like a normal actor = no silliness & no jokes. He couldn't follow through. & he entertained so many people & the movie did better because of his shenanigans. Now what movie was it? I'll have to watch the documentary again}
