As steals the morn upon the night, And melts the shades away: So Truth does Fancy's charm dissolve, And rising Reason puts to flight The fumes that did the mind involve, Restoring intellectual day. The text was originally drawn from Shakespeare’s Tempest: (aside) “The charm dissolves apace, And as the morning steals upon the night, Melting the darkness, so their rising senses Begin to chase the ignorant fumes that mantle Their clearer reason... (Act 5, Scene 1)

Voices of Music's version is soooo much better. A nice try with this version but it sounds like they are all struggling a bit.

@@jpcoll2011 there is an enormous difference between “interpretation” and “vocal quality”; the interpretation is outstanding the balance excellent. The vocal quality is very good; not international concert hall soloists but I don’t believe they claim to be. I have heard much more illustrious artists give less illustrious interpretations. But then all is relative and all taste subjective.

@@jpcoll2011 The VoM one is done at early pitch (415) and this is done at 440. The average age of the VoM version is quite a bit higher than this group, which appears to be just a smidge over 'student age'. While I do like the VoM one much more (due to the tenor and also the recording equipment), this group is very good and I listen to it all the time.

I am surprised to find that a search for Lars did not elicit other similar results. This is one of my favourite pieces; particularly the sentiment expressed. The absolute epitome of enlightenment principles! It is also the embodiment of current events; or rather I hope it is. Favourited with only 2 other interpretations.
