An unreleased masterpiece by Led Zeppelin, this version being recorded in 1969. The edit takes the original 21 minute version to 8:39, but of course, the entire song is great so check it out. Thanks for watching

Well now's his chance..that deadly pandemic ☣️ has been running rampant all over.. even in the UK..
THIS is a perfect example of what made Led Zeppelin the greatest band the world has ever known! Their studio material was obviously great (so good that it has sustained them well past the shelf-life of a normal band) but Zeppelin's majesty was in the live performances...when they were "ON". What makes this performance particularly good is that it captures a hungry, up-and-coming band at the peak of their physical abilities (but not yet their musical ones) in a relatively good recording. Obviously, as they matured, the song-writing got better and the songs more creative but the excesses of their lifestyle combined with the lack of commonly understood medical practice on topics like exercise, drug, and alcohol abuse really conspired to undermine them (along with so many others). Between Robert's voice giving out much earlier than it should have and Jimmy and Bonzo's drug and alcoholism, their live performances became much more erratic. Occasionally they would strike gold, as they did with this performance, but even a casual perusal of their live material (mainly via bootlegs) shows how inconsistent the could be from one performance to the next. Can you imagine performances more akin to this nearly every time they hit the stage?! It actually happened from 1968 until 1971...then the wheels began to slowly fall off. Can't tell you how frustrating it is to listen to many of the post-71 bootlegs and hear Jimmy missing notes and being out of tune, or Robert's voice cracking or him missing (badly I might add) notes that he had routinely hit prior to 71. Listening to this early material does two things for me...1) it reminds me of how epically great they could be and 2) it reminds me of how much greater they could have been had they been just a bit smarter with their health. Alas, the same could be said of Jimi, Janice, the Doors, and many others, although in my humble opinion, none of them ever reached the musical heights of a young Led Zeppelin! Thoughts?

+mapexblack Bonham was, without a doubt, a fucking master, still my favorite drummer of all time, a beast by all accounts...but THE master...has to be the dark wizard that brought this whole thing together. The guy that saw that Bonham had the magic, that he was a master at *his* craft, and said: I gotta have this guy, I can make him shine. Zeppelin was just the perfect storm, just the right elements all coming together at the right time.

you got that right. jimmy was a sessions master who got tired of the studio and wanted to play live and joined the yardbirds. when they broke up he wanted to continue playing and decided to put together the ultimate rock and blues band, the result was the monumental LED ZEPPELIN.
@apolloptx

***** You know, Zeppelin get called a rock n roll band a lot, which is fair enough for a couple of their songs, but I think they were much more progressive than people gave them credit for. I mean, Dazed and Confused?? Sure, it was rooted in the blues, but when played live, going up to 35 minutes, with an alien sounding, dark violin bow solo, that song is progressive hard rock, man.
The music is just incredible, right on par with a real Zeppelin classic. It's a shame they never came back to this and refined it - with better lyrics and esp. a convincing, not-just-fucking-around performance by Plant. This sounds like an early jam and nothing like a properly studio-recorded song.
@LordAmbrosia1

Haha! Love the "Fresh Garbage" riff at 2:03! This must be just after Zep supported Spirit in the States.
They could really improvise on the spot back then in concert. So much freedom for them in concert during those early days when they had so little back log to draw from. Great to hear the "Spirit" riff at 3:34 and later at 4:33.

+edimario sousa sousa Zeppelin é demasiado, amigo.
