    Gotta be honest I’ve never been a fan of ltd/esp guitars or active pickups(I’m assuming they’re active but I didn’t see if they were emgs or what so if I’m wrong forgive me) but this sounds fantastic

    Eh it was a pretty complicated signal chain, gate, compressor, boost pedal with gain turned up some and bass turned down a bit, 808 Overdrive pedal with drive knob around 10 o'clock and tone in the middle, then a splitter, both signal routes go through the same amp and cabinet combo with exactly same settings both (pettrucci amp match with green 25s cab, gain depends on your guitar, i turned it down some, and turned up bass, treble and presence a bit), just one route has a delay pedal before the amp (settings almost at 0 for time and feedback) and then those routes are panned to left and right channels. I guess it's not very helpful but I don't have this preset anymore and just tried to recreate it from memory and few vague screenshots.

    Pretty new to guitar are the open strings pull offs?

  • @hwLUke

    @hwLUke

    4 жыл бұрын

    no there is no pull offs in this song, everything is picked

  • @josesevenmolina6393

    Is it full down picking for the beginning lead or is it up and down

  • @hwLUke

    @hwLUke

    4 жыл бұрын

    The beginning lead part is fully alternate-picked. There is alot of open 3rd string picking going on there between fretted notes. Every single up or down hand movement plays some note in that part, no "empty" moves, if that makes any sense.

    Use an existing tab for this? I'm not convinced I've found a good tab of the verse riff...

  • @hwLUke

    @hwLUke

    To be honest I have never found a fully correct tab or lesson of this riff and I doubt I play it exactly like it is on the record. The important thing is to find what you think and feel is right and sounds good to you and just do that. In the end a cover doesnt have to be 100% note for note. I'm not good at learning by ear so I always look for tabs and youtube lessons but they're all different from eachother so just pick one that you think is the closest and then modify it as you see fit with the help of other tabs and lessons and in the end you will end up with a version that will sound good and will possibly be your own take on some parts of a song. There's nothing wrong with some differences, even artists themselves often play their own riffs and solos differently when they perform live, so if it sounds good, its correct :)
