Our Mandy, we would have to spell everything because she was so quick witted that pretty much my husbands and mine conversation she will follow along and if we’d say newspaper she’d go get it, even book, dinner, bacon, and on and on. She was so in tune to us and of course fox, deer, antelope, etc she knew it all. We had a terrible accident with her a few months back and we miss that dear girl so much. Thank you so much for sharing your little girl with us.

We live in Maggie Valley NC and have not heard of crab tree falls. So I just thought we have seen every water fall in a 100 mile radios from here. We live at 4000 feet on a mountain and have a wonderful view of the mountains. Love your videos keep them coming.

Thank you. We feel really blessed that we live so close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, it is one of our go to places.

Wow! Another great video! It was so relaxing, especially with your choice of background music! You both are doing a great job of enjoying our beautiful state of NC, surprised to hear it's just as hot in your area, as it is in the southern part of the state! Lynn, you always inspire me to get moving due to your love of walking/hiking, and Owen, I think your next vocation may be in doing griddle cooking videos! And by the way, I am glad to see that you added the trailer to your "Travato set". Now you have options, just as you said, depending on your travel plans. That is our plan when we move from Wannabees to Owners! I can't wait to see what happens next week!

Bug hack, take a small oscillating fan and set it where you are sitting. The breeze keeps the bug especially mosquitoes away. Making that fried rice for dinner adding a bit of sesame oil. Our dog Jack makes quick clean up of our food drops. Oh and Confucius say, "I never said all that shi*" lol We are heading to Glacier NP. Happy trails all.

Beautiful part of the Blue Ridge mountains! I went there in 2016 and stayed in a cabin near Burnsville, NC, not too far from Crabtree Falls. Did the drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway from Mt. Mitchell to Grandfather Mountain and to Blowing Rock! Spectacular scenery on that drive!

It sure is! Crabtree Falls is closed right now due to COVID but we hiked the trail a few weeks ago. You got to see a lot of beautiful views for sure.

Always look forward to your videos, you have access to some beautiful countryside. You should become a Blackstone Ambassador, love those grills, unfortunately they are not available in the UK. Your dirt roads look about the same quality as our normal roads 😀

Omg... I loved this video. Owen, you’re a great cook and the chicken fried rice looks amazing. My favorite thing about you and Lynn is that you’re so down to earth and funny. Your love for one another shows in your videos. Also love the song with the waterfall; “Come To The Water”, which I had asked about a few days ago. Can you recommend an editing software for a beginner to use on KZread?

We are so glad you loved it! We both love that song too... we've used it twice now in the last 4 months... and we'll probably use it again. 😂. Editing software? It depends. If you're using a Mac or iPad I'd start with iMovie. It's free and you can do a lot with it. Many of the short segments in our videos are actually edited on iMovie on the iPhone or iPad and then imported into Final Cut Pro X as one big clip. So you could definitely make that work. If you're on Windows then Filmora from Video Share is one I'd look at. Thanks for being part of the gang here. If I can help with anything about getting started just ask.

We're wrapping up our third month volunteering in Colorado (where Mount Mitchell would be considered a foothill). Your shots of I-40, Pisgah NF and the Parkway left us looking forward to traveling west on I-40 as we head home to NC next month. No place like home. Safe travels.

We totally agree about using our toys. The pancake container is a Cuisinart bottle that we bought from Walmart. I really like it because the bottom also unscrews so it’’s really easy to clean. Thank you so much for the nice comment.

Stunning photography and videography. More info on using the phone as a camera up front, please. Love the griddle me this - we ordered the 17" Blackstone! Gonna be TOO HOT the next 2 weeks (at least) to use it outside so not sure when we will use it! I've backed out of getting the e-bikes. I keep thinking about all the people I know that have them and have taken spills on them. I've had too many falls off horses in my 40's and 50's and I can't afford to fall, especially at speed. I need to see if I can find someone around here that may have one we can try. Thanks for sharing. LOVE your videos and they get better every week. Tony and Martha

I totally understand about being concerned about falling off the bikes. It would be a major tumble going as fast as we do. We both try to be really careful but all it takes is looking away one time when something is in the road. Glad you got your Blackstone, we both think you will love it. VAN TREKKING lifestyle for the phone, how long do you record on it? Just for some scenes? Certainly not for the entire trip? Do you use a regular dash cam as well? We just purchased a dash cam but haven’t installed it yet. It’s been near 100 here since we got the griddle, so we haven’t cleaned or seasoned it yet. It’s gotta cool down first! We can’t wait for tomorrow’s video!!! BTW, I didn’t get a Rad bike. I ordered a regular bike first. It comes next week and I’ll give it a shot. If you get back to Maine I'll have to take you to my favorite dirt roads that I love to travel. I know you'd like them too. Such beautiful scenery that you have. Question for you: I know you have given some consideration to a Class C (We have a Winnebago Outlook 25). Do you have enough space in the Travato or do you still consider a C? Ok, I’m not even hungry, but your “van” rice and finished product looked amazing! Your story telling and editing as you leave the main roads and get onto dirt and gravel roads is perfection. My niece lives in Asheville - I love NC and this really makes me want to go visit! Lovely video!

I love riding on dirt roads also! Crabtree Falls reminds me of the "Cascades" Falls on the Parkway in Ashe County, but on a much larger scale. And of course, the chef always delivers.....Love your videos!

If you like dirt roads you would love ( Wiseman's Overlook) the dirt road that follows the rim of the Gorge it's just beautiful. At one point you can see where the gorge opens up into Lake James.

Who doesn’t love a good road trip, this one was full of beauty. Thanks for taking us along. The Blue Ridge Drive is still on my bucket list. Chef Owen, wish there was smell a vision cause it sure looked delicious. Hey Lynn, I just read a hack for the flies and bugs; peppermint oil mixed with some water in a spray bottle. Thanks so much for the files and bug tip. I use peppermint oil all the time to keep mice always but I have never heard to use it in a spray bottle, I am definitely going to try that. We appreciate your comment. Safe travels.

Owen, I love your sense of humor, those one liners get me. You all are so fun to “be with”. Have you tried Cracker Barrel blue berry syrup? Yum. We will try to show Lynn doing her happy dance or maybe we’ll try and do it together. One thing we are learning this summer as we are exploring our on state more is you don’t have to always travel thousands of miles to find magnificent beauty. In the past we may have taken that beauty for granted. A good lesson to learn. Thanks for the comment.

Do you know if the blue ridge parkway has a height limit? there looked to be a low bridge you went under. We are in a Class C. Thank you and really enjoying your videos (we watch them as a family to help us plan our next trip!)

That is so cool that you watch them as a family! The lowest bridge we went under was 12’ 4”. And that is measured from the lowest point which is the side. We are under 11 feet but we still ducked our heads inside the van, which always helps. :-). If you won’t fit there are usually detours around that lead you through a local town. But the portions around Asheville have quite a few tunnels. If you fit, they’re fun... if not, that would be a pain. Thanks for being with us!

@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle No I don't have any recommendations. I'm physically unable to hike like you do. I'm an amateur radio operator and rely my gps equipment to send a message to someone. I have two relatives that use the SPOT (older Gen) and the Garmin (marine). As far as I know neither one activated their devices. In your case with the KZread family I would ask the question on one of your videos. Thank you, for sharing your experiences.

@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle it has a very big pool which is closed right now because of the pandemic the Hillsborough River cuts right through there are some small little waterfalls and a suspension bridge it is very pretty it is an older Park and sustained some damage from Hurricane Irma a few years ago a bridge and a wall needs to be fixed but overall it's a great Park it has a lot of history but most things are closed 👍

Love the Carolina accents 🤠🇺🇸. Little pointer Owen is break the eggs into the rice,my wifes Asian so i got the inside tip.

Not for this video. It was all iPhone 11 Pro footage. We have a GoPro 5 but use our DJI Osmo Action for most action camera stuff.

VAN TREKKING lifestyle ...there have been a few edgy ones I didn’t appreciate, but in today’s climate I believe u-tube should refrain from showing political adds supporting ANY candidate. I just didn’t know whether the add was a personal political preference of yours....or if it was out of your control. Thank you for the quick response. We enjoy your show and are finding places we want to visit in the other part of the mountains in NC. We’re over by Brevard for half of each year and FL the other half. Google/KZread base the ads they show on your viewing/search history. But a lot of the $$ going into ads right now is from politics. If your know us you know that would be the last types of ads we would show. You can click on the ads info menu and select Hide. Then you'll see less from that ad. In theory anyway. Good you're with us. We love both of your back yards. 👍❤️❤️

As a full-time camper with mobility issues, I enjoy your hiking adventures the most. Oh, I also enjoy your cooking section and as always, your interaction with Maggie. Have you camped near Hickory Hut Gorge?

@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle + I haven't been near Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, or Bat Cave NC. in a long time. Can't really say how it is now, but at one time it was a great place to find camping. My last camp up that way was in Pisgah Even an old man like me enjoyed slippery rock!

Hey guys. Loved your video as always. We live in NE GA so we’ve been up that way. Your chicken fried rice looks delicious. We’ve made it with shrimp on our black stone. We are also looking in to getting a pet rv temp alarm device for our Maggie. What kind do you guys use?? Our Maggie says happy tails to your Maggie, Kim and Mark

Thank you for your comment. We use the Nimble Pet Monitor, it’s on our Amazon page if you are interested www.amazon.com/shop/VanTrekkingLifestyle. We still don’t leave Maggie and go on all day trips some where we would not be able to get back if we needed to, unless we are hooked up to power. It does provide peace of mind when your not sure about the temperature. Happy tails to your Maggie.

The container is made by Cuisinart, we love it because the top an bottom come off so it’s easy to clean. We got it at Walmart. Thanks for the question.

VAN TREKKING lifestyle Thanks. We upgraded to the Two Burner Blackstone with stand and lid. Purchased from Walmart. Thanks again for exposing us to “gridding”!

I can buy a trailer, a Clam shelter, a griddle and I can even buy some griddle chocks, but (sigh...) I’ll probably never find a Lynn camper girl anywhere!
