Had one of these for a few weeks having provided the config for the FC. A CF reinforced PA12 camera mount dramatically improved the flight performance as it allowed a much more aggressive tune. All in all a really nice little quad.

I`ve been looking for a pavo pico build with the moonlight to have a tiny walksnail 4k capable drone. Caddx has answered my prayers. and the fact that it`s 4S just makes it even better.

It depends , I converted a Cinelog 20 which is 2ibch and 4s and it’s extremely loud but flies great

@@FelixFPV179 I have a 2.5 inch 4S cinewhoop and it`s like a jet engine. but i fly it with a Caddx Walnut camera and that`s an extra 70g with mount. i can`t imagine the gofilm20 being louder than this.

In daylight I prefer O3 for the sky and clouds coloring, but for the rest of the picture they seem equal. In low light conditions the caddx is a clear winner, it feels ahead by a generation. I wonder which one is better in post editing using a LUT.

As far as the cameras go, the DJI 03 had better colors, but in low light it was a blurry mess. The Walksnail Moonlight had more detail but the color profile seemed flatter.

Flatter better fpr color grading. Tired of my o3 always being so dark unless I run it at 30fps

The Walksnail is set up more for flying than capturing a pretty image out the box. I’d rather be able to see in shadows. Than have them just a black hole that you get on O3. The pretty colours can be added in post anyway.

I would love to know the improvements of PID tuning, i.e. PIDtoolbox before and after. And you mentioned the foam for camera mounting but do not show a flight with. Does it help or still trying?

I currently use the 03 air unit, but preferred the footage from the walksnail system in both scenarios.

I think this is great. I don’t know what’s all the critic for. Don’t expect something better than DJI with their first try. Honestly. It’s good. It can only get better.

guessing walksnail on the right as soon as I seen the video. Did you happen to pull the ND filter off the walksnail in low light? The square filter pulls off the camera lens

I think its design lines are very comfortable, and it looks like a photography equipment rather than a toy.

Hi Chris, what was the weight of the drone and what battery do you recommend. Also I have found in low light that the O3 is better in manual mode, just need to mess with ISO.

I right away even in daylight condition liked the Moonlight more. I am not sure which is better for post-processing but I think the Moonlight shows a clearer picture.

Interesting. In Madtech's vid I preferred the O3 but here the low light is so much better that the slightly worse bright light performance should be off set. It would've been interested in having a comparison of the stock settings to yours. Great to see competition to the O3.

I just bought a pavo pico and moonlight kit to build something similar. I wish I would have waited for this.

O3 in daylight, more natural picture, nice and smooth. Caddx Moonlight was over-sharpened and the colours looked less natural. In low light, the O3 picture detail fell apart but the colour rendering of the Caddx Moonlight looked rather odd. What is the datarate of the Caddx Moonlight, I saw a lot of blocking but that may have just been KZread destroying the picture.

I liked the moonlight the most, so maybe I should put it on my cinelog25 in addition to the peanut i use now and continue flying analog until I have budget for some digital goggles

Walksnail is overexposed and have very strange color in the dark but have much more details and less noise here. You have to set expocorrection to -1 as always and use manual WB.

I believe that on the rec section, there are the options for saturation, shadows, sharpenes, and others to about 5 to 4, max is 10. The video looks more like a log profile. Color grading would be much easier than having to color grade a default setting vid.

Will the moonlight vtx fit the aos 3.5?

Awesome flying and review, Chris! 😃 About the DJI antenna, it's double linear as well. 😬 One vertically polarized and the other horizontal polarized. All O3 antennas are linear. But you're definitely correct that Walksnail would work better with left handed antennas. Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

I would have preferred the camera comparison to be in flight, while you did move them from side to side it would be easier to see real world compression differences etc in those. Also you probably used auto settings on both? DJI will use excessive shutter speeds for some reason only they know and have WAY better image quality on manual settings. I've seen it going to 1/800 and 6400 ISO which is insane. Of course auto should be better, but to get the best footage you need to do manual settings (and ND) on both.

Nobody has Caddx goggles X in stock so how are we supposed to fly it?

3:14 that ELRS T-antenna is surely gonna be cut off by the antenna if you fly like this ;)

From my experience plastic guards work better on drones of this size. The AOS cine25 fell off the table and the top and bottom carbon plates just broke. And there are no spare parts for sale. So I wasted 70€.

The great thing about walksnail is the options that DJI will never do with micro whoop size options like the walksnail and that in itself is why I'm no longer going to support DJI regardless of the better video DJI is not really listening to our input and what the majority of fpv pilots want

Walksnail also offers smaller VTXs and I do already have the moonlight and is great on my apex and I do have the DJI 03 and just am mad that DJI used the avata name and you need all new equipment to even use it and it's bs that is another reason I'm not going to keep supporting DJI period

This is in the same catagory as the flylens85mm and the pavo pico.. this isnt even supposed to be anything like an Avata. So if you are a fan of the pavo and want a little more power this seems like the smarter and slightly cheaper choice. Comparing moonlight to the 03 or 04. Different tools for different jobs.

I think I'll like moonlight better than o3. My o3 is so dark. If it isn't super sunny.

Need someone that can get the most out of these cameras to actually see what they can do ie: real color grading, as of right now it's like going to Walmart and looming st the TV's on the wall watching the demo mode to try and tell which is better, LoL

O3 all the way. The Walksnail has an annoying stepped auto exposure that they still haven't fixed. Plus the magenta cast and over-sharpened image aren't very pleasing. And BTW, those O3 antennas from DJI and Flyfish RC are linear, not circular.

I liked the Walksnail colors better in good light, but the DJI colors in low light. Detail is terrible though in DJI for low light, where walksnail absolutely kills it.

What's the point of showing 4k footage on 1080p KZread compressed video? The video is downsampled 4x and then compressed even further.

It's awesome that almost 2 years later they have something 70% comparable to the O3 lol.

I'm guessing you're trying to joke, but it is actually pretty good seeing as a few years ago no one thought it was possible for anyone else to actually come out with a digital system. And to get, in your opinion, 70% there in a couple years of a company that's been around for as long as DJI and as big/money as DJI, is promising...., yeah I doubt they will catch DJI anytime soon but hey competition is always good for the consumer.

@@ugpfpv361 I started flying many decades ago, I wanted to be able to "fly inside" my aircraft...we talked about how to accomplish that but the tech was not there in those days in fact we never had the net and clubs were scattered and few so you know how long ago I am speaking of. BUT we talked what is known as FPV today way back then. No one not even I can say DJI is not a decent product, but the issue is most everything is created in China and when one company has sold to Governments the other companies are bound to not try and compete because the Chinese communist Government runs the roost We now see other HD systems BUT they are NOT going the DJI route per-say so we can not expect any better until the this are loosened by said Government. BUT in the US and others will follow is a DJI ban plan, that may make other systems better and not have that tie that binds them by the communist regime. We can blame DJI for the current RID and other issues in the RC Aviation community because they started that nonsense in Government drones that led them to be grounded and now Not being allowed to be used By Governments thus a ban but a potential ban that may make it illegal to sell or use DJI drones in the US even by consumers . SO that Communist Government to keep pace will have to loosen the chains for other Companies to create better tech That is a side of the equation most never speak of...DJI fan boys can only see a tree in the forest, and can not fathom that the Forest are not DJI users....and never will be Ur Welcome

I agree, both DJI and caddx are good for KZread type stuff, but it is not going to be like a GoPro with GoPro labs firmware, even that's just marginal

This is a non option. Would never consider this as a legitimate option for professional work. Image looks like crap.

Recently on a flight, a module that I hardly ever use just stopped working, good thing the unit came back on gps. The other module worked all the time and still does. This company's products are just a lottery.
