No they are different! Ventilation is the mechanical process of breathing, where your intercostal muscles, diaphragm and ribcage change your thorax volume abd pressure to either draw air into your lungs or to push them out. Gas exchange happens in the alveoli, where the oxygen and carbon dioxide move between the alveoli and the capillaries. A lot of people mix them up. Hope this clarifies it!
