Hlo mam, I have been watching all of your AS and it is very helpful for revision. Also I have one doubt, For FC-MI is the limitation of reducing the useful life upto 31.03.2021 applicable for may 2022 exams too? Or was there any extensions given?

According to para 46 AS 11, Any exchange difference pertaining to accounting periods which commenced on or after 7th december 2006 If the option is adapted by the entity , if it relates to depreciable asset it will be added or deducted from the asset as the case may be. In other cases it will be transferred to FCMI translation difference A/C and it will be amortised over the life period of the asset or upto 31st march 2020 (originally it is 31st march 2011).This year 31st March 2020 is not changed till now. But according to para 46a (inserted in dec 2011 by Ministry of corporate affairs), Any exchange difference pertaining to accounting periods which commenced on or after 1st april 2011, If an enterprise which already adapted the option as per para 46 and at the option of any other enterprise, If it relates to depreciable asset it will be added or deducted from the asset as the case may be. In other cases it will be transferred to FCMI translation difference A/C and it will be amortised over the life period of the asset. Simply putting, as per para 46 there is a limit in the year for amortisation ie 31/3/2020 (Originally 31/3/2011) .This is applicable only if the long term foreign currency monetary item difference is related to the accounting periods of on or after 07/12/2006 to 31/3/2011. But as per para 46a if the long term foreign currency monetary item difference is related to the period of on or after 01/04/2011 there is no limit for amortisation it can be amortised over the life period od the asset. And if the option is once adapted it is irrevocable and it is applied retrospectively for such accounting period, from the date this transitional provision comes into force or the first date on which the concerned foreign currency monetary item is acquired, whichever is later, and applied to all such foreign currency monetary items. This interpretation was seen by me in one of the posts on linkedin.
