Just wow... What a great third set!!!

Don’t know if anyone saw that after the match, even though they did not shake hands, Elina acknowledged how competitive and fun the match had been, by a slight nod and lifting one hand in appreciation to Aryna. Sabalenka also applauded as Svitolina left the court. These girls were once friends, and they had said after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, that they all used to feel like family. Now most of them are still devastated by this war. Such a shame.

The challenges she went through these last months has only made her a more matured person and better player. What a match. Great game by both. Svitolina played great and had her chances to win. I never thought she can match the power and skills of Sabalenka but she did. Sabalenks with great game as usual. Very nice of Sabalenka to acknowledge the great game by Svitolina at the end though they did not shake hands.

Sad Svitolina played well could have put a stop to the screaming Saba a distraction to the opponent. Saba has been lucky saving two match points. Hopefully svitolina have a upper hand in Next meeting.

Dropshots. Very happy to see Aryna expanding her game. These were very effective tonight, and it makes sense if you have the kind of power that pushes an opponent back, it opens space in the fore court. And what a competitive match. Great to watch. Shame that Elina missed her chances, but that's sport.

Those dropshots from Sabalenka were fantastic, great addition to her arsenal. Her matches are always exciting to watch.

Un gran partido. Con la guerra en Ucrania de fondo, estas dos guerreras jugaron como si entre ellas peleaban esa guerra. Ambas fueron espectaculares. Aunque Svitolina perdio (porque en el tenis no hay empate), Sabalenka salio lesionada por el esfuerzo fisico, siendo la mas joven de las dos.

I was pulling for Svitolina so bad. She had the match wrapped around her fingers if it wasn't for that attempt to counter the drop shot. She sliced it too thin and the ball didn't make it over the net.

Sabalenka shook hands with a chair first. From serving for the match to serving to stay in the match, facing a match point for Svitolina. A match of the year, for sure. Pity for her loss, as Svitolina pushed extremely hard Sabalenka towards the edge of cliff. Cold sweat on the back of Sabalenka, & of bookmakers! Such an exciting, entertaining match, but what a bizarre 2nd set by Svitolina! > 20 min is an excellent highlight, nowhere else!

Is Sabalenka some kind of drop shot maestro or is Svitolina just too slow to react or get off the mark , resulting in Sabalenka making her appear SLUGGISH. SHEESH !!??!! Sabalenka is getting more free and easy points from drop shots rather than her power serves !?!😮😮😮

It was a surprise tactics. Never seen Sabalenka play so many. You've seen she started to retrieve a few in the third. Also, Svitolina was a few feet behind the baseline to absorb Sabalenka's power, so it's a compromise: move forward to save more drop shots but accept more errors on really deep shots.

Today the drop shots from Sabalenka had helped her to stay in the match.She was very very lucky today.Svitolina had won today! But this is tennis,it can be very cruel and sometimes unfair! This doesn't mean that Sabalenka doesn't try hard ,she give it all like Svitolina. Maybe this match will cost the next round phyically and mentally! We will see! Again congratulatios to both players!

How can you sit there and tell that Sabby was "very very lucky". It is not her fault Svitolina choked on the 3 MP she had. Sabalenka just had a strategy against Svitolina to break the rythm from the baseline by drop shooting left and right. She fought like the champion she is. No luck involved.

She can still win more Grand Slams. You can see her game has gotten a lot better than before. Powerful serve and pounding the ball as hard as Saba . Honestly this match can go either way and she has 5 match points so this proves she can hang with the top 3.

I didn't use to watch women's tennis on atp tour, mostly, nothing sexist, just that there is a lack of power which makes it rather unexciting; clearly, I was wrong with these ladies. You can see how they summon all their powers when the urgency pushes them to give everything in their power, literally. What a great match. Will certainly watch out for Sabalenka now. She did pique my interest when she beat Swiatek in the last Mutua Madrid, I believe, or is that Barcelona?. Will watch her more now. Swiatek is so so good, but her style is not to my liking, I have to say.

Yeah, for me its just NUTS hearing it (I turn the volume off and watch a little of highlights when she is out there). Its similar to someone getting thronged in the gut really hard and causing so much pain. Don't let the "fan boy" people criticize 'ya for expressing, just let it roll.
