I had no hissing sound. And no sound while changing volume. I also did not have problem with volume over 80-85 unless I connect through wifi and play music that is saved on my phone. While streaming or on Bluetooth, did not distort over volume of 85. Good review.

So refreshing to find one more reviewer at its infant stage, where we can get good information without the advertising. Most reviewer started like you providing good information, but eventually they all converted into lets make money out of this, everything we review is magical, you should just go buy it... What a disappointment. So I am glad I found you at this stage, I subscribed and liked the video. I hope this channel can stay like this, just pure honest opinion, not afraid to reject and not recommend something if it is not worth buying it.

Hello, thanks for the review, i didn't see it before buying the unit ! Fortunately i don't have the hissing problem when connected via coaxial output to alientek d8 amplifier. I do have the clipping sound when using volume buttons from remote : it's an implemented bip, using 4 streams for volume is ok though. Changing tracks from remote does not make the bip ! Coaxial output is indeed 16/44.1 , so cd quality wich is enough for me actually. Other problem i got after 2 month is that maybe after update i don't have tracks info on the screen, but the screen still works when starting unit. Another drawback is the loud voice saying "connected to wifi network" at startup. My diy raspeberry pi with moode audio does best than this unit as for streaming. Gilles

The TV i use also does not alow cotrol of the volume of any external speakers?

Hi, thanks for the video. Can you clarify? So the digital outputs are limited to 16bit - which seems nuts. But what if you are just passing analogue? Does that conversion benefit from the 24bit decode or is it also only feeding from the 16bit bottleneck? Appreciate any thoughts on this. Also for a turntable do you need to bring a separate pre-amp or is the integrated amp sufficient? Thanks again!

Thank you so much for your honest review. I am getting into this hobby at the wrong time. After the pandemic, everything is scarce and over priced. The market is being flooded with all these cheap audio solutions being sold at a premium price, and none of it is really worth it. Yesterday I almost pulled the trigger on the A50+ and now am glad I didn't. You described the same noise and distortion that is very common to all these cheap Chinese amplifiers. Here is my dilemma... I just got the highly regarded Sony entry level passive speakers on sales for $75. But now I need an amp, and now I am paying $20/mo for Tidal, so I also want to make sure I am streaming every single bit of high quality audio out of that service. Because the Pandemic, and all the raving reviews, the normally $99 Sony receiver that matches these speakers is now going for $170. Even if I got that AMP, I know the internal DAC and the built-in Bluetooth feature was not going to take full advantage of the expensive Tidal subscription. That is when the Arylic A50+ became a very attractive solution. A network streamer, with a good built in DAC and its own amplifier that could drive the Sony Speakers I just got, all in one package for just $200. Too good to be true... I was tempted, but I been trying a lot of Amazon Chinese headphones amps and DACs lately, they all exhibit the same flaw, distorted and noisy bad amplifiers that fail prematurely. So, when I have to invest $200 for a little device and then I hear you spilling out the beans about the S50 Pro +, I am glad I did not pulled the trigger on that. The sad part is that no good brand name is creating any streamer that is affordable, anything that is worth buying that can actually not only decode but also output high resolution sound, you can not get for less the $1000, just for the streamer, then you have to worry about the amp and the speakers. So, the hunt continues to find a good streamer / dac / amp solution around $300 for these speakers I have here, that I haven't even taken out of the box and don't even know how they sound. I don't want to go beyond the return period without trying them out, I will probably will have to return them. I got a set of Bestisan power speakers for my desk, they turned out to be excellent sounding speakers but not enough for a living room, but they are my point of reference, now I understand the term reference monitors, anything I get after the Bestisan better out do the Bestisan. And matching an amp to a speaker is not easy task. At times you get lucky with magical pleasing sound, other times you have to keep spending and you never get there. Another reason I want to have a streamer, is to take color factor of the phone or the tablet out of the equation. I love the Bestisan power speakers, but they sound so different depending which device is streaming the music, it is amazing how different my iPad sounds from my iPhone, using the same Tidal app, playing the same song, never mind if I use my TCL android with the ability to use an EQ app, so I wanted to eliminate that factor out of the equation, I want my speakers to sound the same no matter which device I am using as a remote control... For example my old iPhone 6s Plus was a much pleasing sounding device than my current iPhone 7 Plus, night and day difference. The iPad is right in between, but not quite the iPhone 6s Plus. The android gives me the advantage of an equilizer but I can tell it degrades the quality. At this point my best streaming device is my Laptop, I am getting the best quality sound and most musical out of my HP with B&o sound when connected via hard wire through the 3.5mm headphone jack to the back of the power speakers. Nothing else I have in the house can beat that combo so far. But when I go into my living room, I don't want to drag my laptop out of the office just so that I could have good sound, I wish I could have a good streamer in the living room connected to a separate system that sounds pleasing... Any help, suggestions, any ideas, please contribute. Glad I found your channel, lets learn together.

@@sidsreviews1110 For those who stumble into this review in the future, the speakers I got were the Sony SS-CS5, they were on sale at Bestbuy for $75. These speakers are the newest updated version that now have the Banana plug binding post. I matched these speakers with an Onkyo Receiver that I got off Craigslist for $40. This particular receiver is a 2005 model, so it is not vintage, it is modern sounding, it has a Sub out, but Most interesting it has a Direct mode where it eliminates all processing and provides a direct clean pass through, no tonal effect, no sound processing, just pure amplification of the input signal and it sounds great paired to the Sony speakers. I am streaming Bluetooth from my iPad, to an external DAC the EarSound DAC ES100. The DAC allows me to equalize the sound before it reaches the receiver. I am very pleased. Moral of the story don’t be wasting your money on cheap Amazon Chinese gear that won’t last and won’t sound good either, be patient and try to find a good used amplifier from a good brand. I hope this helps someone.

I purchased the Alyric streamer from Amazon, the 50+ model that comes with a subwoofer output, I think is great, I like the sound signature, but am disappointed that it doesn't include an equalizer. Realize that when you use a streamer, you are bypassing all the sound processing from the app on the phone and the phone itself, so whatever sound adjustment the streamer itself gives you that is all you got. It pairs well with the Sony speakers and the subwoofer I have; it is perfect to watch TV on a 2.1 system.
