At this terrifyingly wobbly era in our collective human journey, Pärt's "Fratres" is a like a timeless salve, from a better kind of spirit. Thanks

There are many, many versions, for many, many ensembles - all made by Part himself…but here, one is moved & carried away by the still coldness of a perfect string arrangement… Someone close to me heard this for the first time today - it’s sampled on Nick Cave’s album ‘Carnage’ - I directed my friend to ‘Fratres’, after a friendly argument…he is bowled over - ‘like someone cutting glass’ was all he could say…& actually, when I first heard this piece on the radio, I thought it was called ‘Fir trees’- the image of a frosted glade of trees - the still, cold silence - was almost overwhelming… ‘Fratres’ - I think it means ‘Brothers’, & Aarvo Part’s deep , even dangerous - devotion is in every phrase, AND every mesmerising silence! Blessed Be, Maestro: Heaven bless you & keep you safe! 🙏🏻💔🙏🏽

@VB: I do listen to ‘modern trash’ when the mood takes me/there are boring things to do: But the stillness & beauty of ‘Fratres’ has my heart… So glad that I’m alive to witness this live perfection! 🙏🏻💔🙏🏽
