Is it okay that Arturia’s foundation is emulating EVERYTHING they produce?? Asking for a friend.🤔
@0VRLNDR
3 жыл бұрын
@@BigJBeats Yes. They work with the owners of the original IP to get a blessing / license / partner on it. All parties involved have an interest in a quality final product and no one is surreptitiously copied. If Behringer approached Arturia and got a license / approval for a dead copy that they could make in order to sell their upcoming DAW, then the comparison would be fair, and so would Behringer's business practices.

@@0VRLNDR There was some shadiness about their Synthi emulation and there are several that don't use trade dress because they didn't partner with the maker/rights holder. On something like the 2600 I don't particularly care - Korg got the ARP name and logo via ARP's bankruptcy, they have no real claim to it IMO.

@gridsleep I know this is supposed to be a joke, but didn't they add a bunch of Deepmind features to the Juno? And people always say the Deepind sounds quite Juno-esque...
@OttosTheName

@gridsleep no I mean that the DeepMind supposedly sounds like a Juno, but it had lots more features. Then Arturia came with the new Juno VST and they also added a bunch of extra features that are also in the DeepMind. Haven't compared the two myself though.

Excellent vid! And thank you for not playing 'jump' when you were demonstrating the OB X!
Soo his weekend, finally got V Collection on a great offer, so happy happy joy joy, great video!
I usually think "shut up and play" when I watch reviews but this was a great balance of info and audio demos! subbed!
Helpful and informative! Thank you.
I love your humor Benn.
Great review. You’re a fan but don’t try to hide it. I am too. 😀 Their plugins are so practical, creative and useful. And I can’t wait to hit its update!
Just bought a Keystep so it was rad to watch you put these through their paces with it. Now to go learn Jump.
Awesome review! I got a 50% discount from Arturia today and ended up going in to buy it after watching your video. Thanks for the review!

Me too. I've watched the V Collection 6 video three times (and I've owned the collection since v4…I just enjoy the overview and history).
I LOVE my Keystep! Aftertouch. Perfect size for my setup. Arturia products all sound great and you can live off the presets forever. How they use less cpu than any of the others I have, is a great mystery you could maybe shed some light on. AND -- Arturia has fantastic customer service!!!! I have never been ignored or not helped and recently someone helped me above and beyond.
The keystep still remains my favorite midi-controller. It's just so handy and plays really well with touch-sensitivity.
Way to represent! Go Arturia!
Love your energy bro (and the behringer reference 🤣🤣🤣) subscribed.
I'm a big fan of Arturia for sure !! I don't think I'll ever explore the full potential of this collection within my lifetime.
I've never seen him acknowledge it directly but Benn saying "they shut that shit DOWN" means he either really is aware that he looks like Negan or it's some wild universal synchronicity that has led to Benn being a synthesis genius and touring musician clone of the guy
I owned an Emulator II in the early 2000s. It was dead when i got it and had it restored at EARS in NYC. It had been owned previously by The Residents (!) and had a bunch of floppy discs from them.
The new synths in this are excellent..hands down a massive improvement. Analog Lab 5 which I got a free upgrade to is very much improved 👍🏼
1:33 Omg the synth transition after the jingle was amazing o.o
V collection is great. Can't wait to try 8
Just had to stop the video and say how hilarious you are ! The “B” company was clutch 😂
That Vocoder actually sounds great. Up until hearing this, I have pretty much despised all of them. That Arturia Mellotron wins the mellotron race, as being able to convincingly "mellotronize" your own sounds is a pretty incredible sound design trick. Props for mentioning it, it is brilliant. I believe my V8 upgrade for $99 ships tomorrow! After hearing your demos, I am pretty excited about getting some new VSTs for the first time in quite a while. You chose great sounds and music to share. Beautifully musical clips! Thank you!
It's so good to have access to these emulations, thinking about how much they cost back in their day.
wow these sound really good
Damn, your V6 video is my favorite video of yours, and that Laura Brannigan commentary part was what made me subscribe. 🤣
Nice work, you have a new follower for sure! 👍🏻
Awesome ❤️ !!!
Pretty useful review, cheers.
This is how u review a product amazing bro
6:02 took me a couple of listens before I heard "in app tutorials", instead of "inept tutorials". I guess I'm used to really low bars.
EEK- Much love for "Orange" ! Released an EP of citrus themed songs using it back in the netlabel days~
Thanks!
Nice! I have a hardware Dave Smith OB-6, and can say that the OB-Xa pairs well and stands up decently with it. I've watched a lot of Oberheim videos, and Arturia's recreation seems accurate to me.

I'm new to the synth world, so please forgive me if I get some things wrong, but did Dave Smith buy out Oberheim and/or all of their designs/patents?
@gordonmurphy4321
2 жыл бұрын
@@zachhaywood1564 As I understand it, the OB-6 is collaboration between Dave Smith and Tom Oberheim. But as to who owns the patents - I don't know. Surely Dave would have to get permission to use the patents - however patents don't last for very long, so maybe the patents have already expired. I'm guessing the two are at least professional friends. They are both giants in the field of electronic music - that's for sure.
Synthi and Vocoder are my favs in this collection
I love there effects, just as much as my UAD or plug-in alliance stuff. I love there 1176. I think imma try this bundle out, thanks for the vid :)
Interested to see the inside of _that_ B. Ehringer product. I was developing a hardware mod for the original keystep and got somewhat familiar with it's internals. I know the big B employed reverse engineering in the past, but it'll be interesting to see how blatant they actually are.

@@ThedjAwesome sorry bro. The sale ended about 2 weeks ago it’s back to $599. They always have discounts on various items and always after you make purchases. Trust me you can’t go wrong with Arturia.

always great stuff...have you played with the new equator 2?
really funny to see the giant keystep in front of the tiny Oberheim x))
it's a steal.
Jun 6-V sounds beautiful
Can this Arturia emulator II load the OMI universe of sound libraries?
While these are great - I’m torn between this and the UVI vintage vault 3.. Are Arturia VSTs CPU heavy like the Roland Cloud VSTs? I know UVI are samples so I’m leaning more towards them (plus they have an MKS-80 Super Jupiter VST - or as they call it - Mercury 80), than having to upgrade my MacBook yet again. Also, any word on UVI having a vintage vault 4? I think they usually come out with their VST packages at the beginning of the year and vintage vault 3 is 11 months old.
I'm really interested in what you'd make of korg gadget... It costs less, looks simple, but weirdly can be crazy deep if you approach it with a modular mindset; like each gadget as a module attached to a sequencer with strong parameter automation. I've been digging it, and it has a bunch of adorable bootleg korg versions of obxa, casio, mpc, moog, and some others that are like hybrids of synths.
Nice review, I wonder if someone want this legendary software 🧐

Hi, Benn. can you please make a few shots of Swing's internal pcb's and test SysEx transmission to/from PC? Hope they don't share the same hardware and firmware with crippled MIDI specs and routing.
Would you be willing to review the IK Multimedia Syntronik & Roland Cloud collections and compare them to Arturia’s V collection?
so do I get all of Arturia's I-7 collection as well ?
Skipped V7 update but tempted by updating to V8 due to the Juno 6 V.
Amazing how does that little box do all that.
Just out of curiosity how is the vcollection on CPU?
This collection seems to me to be the most lovingly crafted, artfully executed bit of plugin engineering. If you have the money, I believe it is worth every cent. I was lucky to grab the 75% off sale which was offered to Pigment owners (ending April 3, 2022). I bought pigment for half price a while back so I'm really lucky. I couldn't really afford it but I grabbed it anyway. So glad I did. The sounds are divine.

One unorthodox request: I would be very interested in you reviewing..... the book Voice Leading by David Huron. Just to be clear, it is not a classical/Western music theory book, but mostly talks about acoustic and auditory phenomena (which anyone who's seen an instrument under a spectrum analyser must have wondered about), and I think it's a wonderful reading material for anyone who's producing electronic music, where we can create instruments with any kind of spectral "footprint", unlike classical music, where this has to be done by orchestration. Anyway, at least for me that book was intensely interesting because it exactly answered the kind of questions I've always had.

Benn roasts Behringer harder than Thanksgiving turkey XD love it. I have 4 Behringer products - the UMC202HD, 2x B2301a speakers, and Xenyx X1222 mixer for shows. Love all four pieces despite hating the company's ethical position or lack thereof. However, I have recently became a fanboy of Arturia and got me a Studio interface and now wait for the Limited Edition Minilab MKII Orange to come out.

Great video. You know, if you pay full-price for the V-Collection, yes, it does seem like a lot of money, but like you say, you get instruments that are very well developed. I bought in on V-Collection 3 and skipped 4, bought 5, skipped 6 and bought 7, each time with a price break from Arturia at the time of introduction. They DO have sales annually and at other random times as well, it seems. If you can get it on one of their sale times, it's certainly worth the money-you won't find ANY of the represented instruments in real life for anywhere near the money you will pay for the Arturia product, and their emulations are amazing. Couple them with some good production plugs on your DAW and you can create amazing tracks for not a lot of money. Black Friday Sales rule. I also just got the Lindell 80 Neve channel strip and the CLA 76 compressor on sale. Running the CS-80 V into that signal chain is tremendous. But yeah, Arturia does a great job-worth the money, I think. Again, great video-thank you for posting!

I have a keylab essential, keystep and keystep pro and it seems that the connectivity is effortless. If you use an Arturia controller with their VST’s it sets itself up and maps everything automatically whereas if you use a non-Arturia controller (but why?) you’re going to have to map everything yourself. Arturia is the industry standard and imo they really are the best controllers out there.
