can you save note/pitch settings for individual sequences, so you can recall the note specific patterns at any time?

I'd like to know : is the "big" knob on the left "notched" like the other knobs ? Can I use it to send MIDI PGM CHANGE messages to my soft synths for example ? Thanks a lot !

How to save the channel with the set preset ? Theres a bug ? i cant save channell with the saved preset , nor does ableton see the beatstep channell. ( it allways only responds to ch 1 )

I have it synced with Ableton but it only plays MIDI or audio tracks. I Can play and stop them, but I can play individual drum parts in drum kit. Id like to be able to do both by recalling a different channel, then it plays tracks and other channel plays drums. If I recall a channel and then go back it stops working completely with Ableton. What am I missing here? Can you please help me?

Did you find out? I have an MS 20 mini with cv and gate inputs so i am trying to find the best gear to drive it

@@NeonArtifact I have the Sq-1 and it's a good piece of gear. The biggest difference with this one is that you cannot store and recall sequences on the Sq-1. The sq-1 has two CV/Gate outs so you can sequence two things in parallel. Sq-1 runs off batteries although mine mysteriously doesn't work on batteries, gotta figure out why. sq-1 has a few more play modes too for example you can set it to a mode where it has 8 steps and the bottom encoders are for the duty cycle. Not something i use a lot. other than that, people love the step jump mode on it (it's pretty neat). hope that helps a bit. sq-1 has a lot of functions but is itty bitty and you can't store sequences, thats the biggest downsides.

@@aetios Thanks for the reply. I been trying to use it with my korg MS20 mini synth. I also have the og Beatstep. Maybe i can store sequences on it to feed the midi out on the SQ-1? Gonna dig into it more. That is weird that yours won't work with batteries. Gate just means audio source, right?

@@NeonArtifact gate is not an audio source but more like a pulse to indicate the length of the note. control voltage is used for the 'note' (there are different mappings). Big downside of the Beatstep that I just realised is that it does not synchronise to hardware midi or sync pulse, only usb midi, so you can only use it as a master clock. Kinda stinks! I don't think you can feed the Sq-1 over midi, as it is strictly midi out (a common complaint, actually).

@@aetios the only use i have found for the beatstep is as a sequencer using the internal sync to ableton. I'll have to investigate more!

what programa u use?

where´s the midi in for the external clock? or just accept sync clock only from a computer? it will be a massive fail...

I d like to see how to set it up using it with the synth (i m a noob)
