A couple of other things.... -You can simply sand the copper down to get the patina off and paint directly. - oil paint uses oxygen to dry and metals like lead draw it into the mix. You can even add metal to a paint medium (siccative). In this case , the copper itself, rather than reoxidize, draws oxygen into the paint. - copper prevents microbes from growing that eventually destroy paintings.

Which yellow pigment interacted with the copper? Lead tin yellow? Thank you, it was interesting and informative.
