JerrysArtarama so do you recommend I paint with oils outside? I’m broke AF
One of my friends who’s a painter and decorator, he told me how he’s getting headaches and feeling dizzy due to long exposure to oil paint. I advised him to have the windows open and he needs to wear a mask 😷 and gloves. I notice a lot of painters aren’t wearing masks
“While we’re on the topic of my beard… this is not going to give you a great seal if you have facial hair, so ladies--- ” 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣🧔 This is why I keep tuning in 😄
Ok, convinced skeptical me to give Lukas Berlin a try soon. I use some Lukas 1862 oils now and I love them. So, I clicked over to watch one your Berlin Water Mixable videos (you had a beard in that video too), and what finally convinced me was the line of water mixable mediums. Should be fun. Love Chelsea products too, I use lavender. Actually, what I love is having options. Thanks!
Due to poor ventilation at my University, I am now permanently intolerant to oil paint and solvent fumes. I can't be around them without having asthmatic coughing fits. I love oils, but I can't use them any more.

Same at my house with varnishes. They have chemicals in them that act as sensitizers, so the more we're exposed to them, the less we can tolerate them.
Ya, you just convinced me to go with water mixable oils. No smell, easy clean up. Same outcome.
I might have to look into the orange scented version - the lavender is strong (not bad in small doses though). I'm with you on the beard - don't care for them (not to mention food tends to accumulate in there, yuck... if you keep it, don't be one of those guys!). I use Liquin with oil pastels to thin them like paint - what would be an equivalent safe product? Would the Spike oil work?
Good video Mike and water soluble oil paint is real oil paint It is to bad that there is no real way to combat the mis-information attached to the paints! I often wonder if they called them “water clean up paint” would that make a difference? I think you are doing a good job trying Have a wonderful day, Thanks! Edit: good ideas about using the old toxic art mediums and cleaners some just will not try new things. All good clean up ideas too!
I don’t have headaches I have respiratory issues to thinner along with older less brands. I have started to switch over to the water mixable oil paints
Thanks for this video it's helpful. Am trying a different brand acrylic and I'm getting headaches. I didnt figure it out until gave myself a break and started painting again.
Perfect PSA edit job!
I have a bunch of oil paints from art school, but am having trouble tolerating the fumes. I’ll try your suggestions, because honestly, Gamsol isn’t cutting it for me anymore!
I had a problem with Grumbacher Acrylic. I couldn't find out my my eyelid would twitch continuously and it turns out that's what it was. I switched to M. Graham and everything's OK now.
I use the Chelsea, its great!
Will the water mixable paints work for the Bob Ross method and will the Chelsea products work on Bob Ross brushes.
Keep the beard. It looks good. The itchy will ease up.. birchbox men have great beard products for oil, grest combs to tame those hairs. Oh and trick for great beard is to overgrown it in the beginning to get it nice and long before you then trim to your liking. I saw it on the birchbox channel. You always give great info but man, I think I have your whole Charvin video memorized. LOL.
Mike. Try manicuring creating acrylic nails, for 30 years. Paint smells good Im not addicted or anything. ;-)
I wish there was something solvent free and odorless, ive tried natural oils like lavender spike but it smelled too strong. Same with alcohol markers, copics give me headache.
LOL I LOVE IT! dang tho, that lavender spike stuff is just so expensive.
I've used spike lavender oil for several years now. It's fabulous, even if my room smells like a brothel. It also dries the paint quickly and makes the paint 'lean', so you might have to add a bit of linseed oil. A drop goes a long way.

Is linseed non toxic
I been painting with my oil paints in a dangerous setting wow I’m stupid
Maybe a fan blowing from across the room as well.
Largely why I switched my main medium to colored pencil. Can't deal with fumes!!!
rofl the r2 sounds
I recommend escoda artist brush and hand soap And blue air purifiers, as well as a Dyson fan

Dysons are for looks, better off with a real air purifier
What about the Sennelier Green for oils and the Gamblin products?

Sennelier Green for Oil is very nice products... and they work very well with Sennelier Rive Gauche Oil colors... the Green for Oil Painting Medium dry very quickly... even with normal oil paints.

@@hmichael228 Yes, I am trying them out.. I just will not use solvents.. Are you using the Sennelier products? I have used the liquid medium and with some colors it feels sticky a long time.. Should speed up drying time as you said
so is the heat off in the studio? the heavy coat is just a little weird.
Beard needs to stay. Grab a beard oil. The itchy is from dry skin.

I agree, the beard does look great on Mike.
Hi all. Masters brush cleaner also has a certification. Without that nasty lavender stink.
I'm sticking to colored pencils, Crayola crayons, markers, and colored ink. It's not worth the risk to me. Remember Bob Ross, his mentor (Bill Alexander), his second wife and the other featured student that trained under Bill Alexander, a female (I can't remember her name, sorry.)? They all died of cancer and the same kind as well - Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Steve Ross is Bob Ross' son and is in the same business. Recent pictures of him have me concerned. I hope it's not what it's looking like.
I also have the same problem with oils, I love them, but fumes give me headaches , I feel nauseous and sick. Even outside (I use lineseed oil as a solvent).
PSA? I don't need my prostate checked.
