WQXR's Elliott Forrest caught up with American violinist and three-time Grammy Award winner, Hilary Hahn. They discuss her upcoming concerts with the New York Philharmonic, where she is a 2023-24 Artist-in-Residence.
On January 11-12th, she will perform Prokofiev’s dramatic Violin Concerto No. 1., Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra, and Coleridge-Taylor’s Ballade at David Geffen Hall. Jakub Hrůša conducts.

I came to know Hilary because of her awe-inspiring recordings. Being an amateur, self-taught violinist who have never had lessons, I idealized Hilary's playing by quite a lot. However, I definitely did not expect her to be this down-to-earth kinda person. Perchance I've generalized her among the plethora of egotistical celebrities. Yet I find myself gravitating to the invaluable wisdom and grace she imparts through her music and life.
I am not a violinist and, still, Hahn is an inspiration to me.

Bonjour, J'avais une question, je voulais savoir si Hilary aimait d'autres musiques que le classique, si elle aimait par exemple la musique de Coldplay et si elle envisageait à l'avenir comme avait fait Freddie Mercury avec Montserrat Caballé, de jouer un jour avec une ou un artiste de la Pop Merci pour la réponse

No sé si le gusta Coldplay en concreto, pero claro que le gustan otros géneros musicales. Sé que ha tocado con grupos de música country y ha grabado un disco que no es de música clásica tradicional.
